Leucosyrinx
''Leucosyrinx'' is a genus of sea snails, marine gastropod mollusks in the family Pseudomelatomidae.WoRMS (2011). Leucosyrinx Dall, 1889. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=138611 on 2011-03-11 Description (Original description) The thin shell is white or pale without color pattern. The anal notch lies behind the periphery or at the suture. The sculpture is delicate and consists of spiral keels or threads and often oblique riblets on the shoulder of the whorls. The peripheral keel, if present, is not recurved. The operculum is thin, nucleus apical, scar of attachment small. The larval shell is glassy, rounded or keeled. The other shell characters are as in ''Pleurotoma''. The species type is ''Pleurotoma verrillii'' Dall. This group is intended to contain the operculated species of ''Pleurotomida'' which are so characteristic of the archibenthal region. They are distinctly contrasted with the coarse, s ...

Leucosyrinx Clionella
''Leucosyrinx clionella'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae. IN 1938 Paul Bartsch was of the opinion that ''Leucosyrinx clionella'' was actually as synonym of ''Burchia clionella'', agreeing in radular characters with Y-shaped marginals only as well in the shell's appearance. Description The length of the shell attains 37 mm, its diameter 12.5 mm. (Original description) The large, solid shell is chalky, with a rather thick olivaceous periostracum, and about seven whorls. The apex is eroded. The spire is much longer than the aperture. It has a subfusiform shape, with whorls appressed at and constricted in front of the suture. The constriction corresponds to the anal fasciole behind which the margin of the whorl has the aspect of a thickened band. The axial sculpture, beside incremental lines, consists of twelve low, rounded, strong, slightly protractive ribs with subequal interspaces, strongest just in front of the ...

Leucosyrinx Hemimeres
''Leucosyrinx hemimeres'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell varies between 15 mm and 35 mm. (Original description) The high shell is conical, with a small, round-tipped conical apex. It is ribless, but with a keel beset with longish narrow tubercles. Sculpture: Longitudinals—there are only fine hair-like lines of growth. Spirals—about ⅔ down each whorl is a very sharp and prominent angulation. The keel thus formed is beset by numerous small, sharpish, narrow and elongated tubercles, which fail to become ribs. Of these tubercles there are about 12 on the earlier whorls, and they become more numerous on the succeeding whorls. Below this keel there is a straight-lined contraction. Above it there is a long, slightly concave shoulder, with a delicate row of small tubercles at the top close to the suture. Both rows of tubercles, but especially the upper, are very ...

Leucosyrinx Amycus
''Leucosyrinx amycus'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 52 mm, its diameter 20 mm. (Original description) The white shell has an ashy brown periostracum and six or more whorls, the apex eroded. The suture is slightly appressed, especially on the spire. The anal fasciole is wide and deep, somewhat in front of the suture and extending to a moderate peripheral carina. Behind the carina, the shell is feebly, and in front of it strongly spirally grooved with wider flat interspaces. The aperture is simple. The outer lip is thin and produced. The inner lip is erased and white. The columella is gyrate but not pervious. The siphonal canal is distinct and slightly recurved.

Leucosyrinx Esilda
''Leucosyrinx esilda'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 24 mm, its diameter 9.7 mm. (Original description) The shell is fusiform with the spire longer than the aperture. It is chalky, apically eroded, with a pale gray, very thin periostracum and about five remaining whorls. The suture is appressed with a slightly constricted anal fasciole in front of it. About sixteen subequal, low, rounded protective ribs cross the upper whorls from in front of the fasciole with subequal interspaces and, on the body whorl, cease rather abruptly near the periphery. These ribs are not particularly strong or abrupt at their beginning. The spiral sculpture consists of six or eight faintly incised lines in front of the suture and on the fasciole, and beginning again on the base near the anterior ends of the ribs and continuous but not sharp over the base and siphonal canal. ...

Leucosyrinx Eremita
''Leucosyrinx eremita'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies.MolluscaBase (2018). Leucosyrinx eremita (Murdoch & Suter, 1906). Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=599034 on 2018-11-19 Description The length of the shell attains 5.8 mm, its diameter 2.42 mm. (Original description) The small, fusiform, fragile shell shows shouldered whorls. The body whorl is slightly shorter than the spire and ends in a rather short open siphonal canal. The sculpture consists of longitudinal and spiral threads and riblets, the former inclined slightly backward. They number about fifteen on the penultimate whorl and are obsolete above the angle, absent upon the greater part of the body whorl. The spirals consist of five minute threads on the slope above the angle. Beneath the latter there are four much stronger riblets, forming gemmules at ...

Leucosyrinx Fijiensis
''Leucosyrinx fijiensis'' is an extinct species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 24.4 mm, its diameter 8 mm. (Original description) The shell is medium in size, slender, fusiform. The protoconch is not preserved. The whorls of the spire show a strong median keel-like projection composed of rounded nodes that are inclined to the right. There are nine nodes on penultimate whorl, nodes becoming inconspicuous on the body whorl. Above the peripheral nodes, the surface is smooth except for faint spiral cords and strongly curved lines marking the anal sinus. Below the nodular periphery are four or five spiral cords. On the body whorl, such cords extend over the entire base. The aperture is lenticular, extended anteriorly as a short siphonal canal.

Leucosyrinx Exulans
''Leucosyrinx exulans'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae, the turrids and allies. Description The length of the shell attains 32 mm, its diameter 13 mm. (Original description) The solid shell has a yellowish chocolate-brown color. It is strongly sculptured, with eight or nine whorls. The tip is eroded in all the specimens. The whorls are rounded. The region of the fasciole in front of the closely appressed suture is flattish, constricted, and polished. The transverse sculpture in front of the fasciole (on the penultimate whorl) consists of about fourteen short, stout, obliquely set riblets, which coronate the whorl and do not reach the suture in front. The spiral sculpture consists of rather narrow shallow grooves, separating slightly raised flattish, rather wider, threads. The last are finest on the fasciole and somewhat coarser near the siphonal canal, but tolerably uniform over the entire surface. The notch is rather wi ...

Description The length of the shell attains 14.5 mm, its diameter 5.0 mm (Original description) The subfusiform, thin shell has an acute spire and a long, straight, anterior siphonal canal. The protoconch is small, globular of about 2, smooth, convex whorls. The remaining whorls number about 7. The whorls of the spire are strongly angled in the middle, leaving a wide, concave or sloping zone about the upper suture. The sculpture consists of small, more or less confluent tubercles on the periphery of the whorls and number on the body whorl about 14. In addition, the whole surface is strongly sculptured with raised, subequal, spiral threads. The base of the shell is strongly contracted to the long, straight, anterior canal. The outer lip is broken. The anal sinus, as indicated by the growth lines, lies in the concave zone, ...
