Lethbridge Pronghorns
The Lethbridge Pronghorns, are the athletic teams that represent the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. They have men's and women's teams that compete in U Sports basketball, rugby union, soccer, swimming, and track and field. Previously, they competed in ice hockey until 2020. They are named after the pronghorn. Teams Basketball The Men's basketball team is currently coached by James McKinnon in the interim. The Women's basketball team is currently coached by Dave Waknuk. Hockey In 1994 the men's team won the University Cup. U Sports
U Sports (stylized as U SPORTS) is the national sport governing body of university sport in Canada, comprising the majority of degree-granting universities in the country. Its equivalent body for organized sports at colleges in Canada is the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Some institutions are members of both bodies for different sports. Its name until October 20, 2016, was Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS; french: Sport interuniversitaire canadien, SIC, links=no). On that date, the organization rebranded as "U Sports" in both official languages. 2019 U Sports University Cup
The 2019 U Sports Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament (57th annual) was held March 14–17, 2019, in Lethbridge, Alberta and played at the ENMAX Centre. The Lethbridge Pronghorns, a member of U Sports Canada West conference, are the designated host for this awarded year. The ENMAX center is located 15 minutes from campus, in south Lethbridge. This event marks the first appearance of the tournament in Lethbridge and 10th time in Alberta (7 times in Edmonton and 2 times in Calgary). The New Brunswick Reds won their 8th title over the defending champion Alberta Golden Bears. UNB last won the University Cup in 2017. This marked only the 2nd victory for an Atlantic program in 10 trips to Alberta (the other victory was Moncton, in 1981, hosted by Calgary). Canada West is a regional membership association for universities in Western Canada which assists in co-ordinating competition between their university level athletic programs and providing contact information, schedules, results, and releases about those programs and events to the public and the media. This is similar to what would be called a college athletic conference in the United States. Ashley Steacy (born June 28, 1987) is a Canadian rugby union player. She won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games as a member of the Canadian women's rugby sevens team. Curling
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Ringette
Ringette is a contact sport, non-contact winter team sport played on ice hockey rinks using Ice skates#Ice hockey skates, ice hockey skates, straight sticks with drag-tips, and a #Equipment, blue, rubber, pneumatic ring designed for use on ice surfaces. The sport is among a small number of organized team sports created exclusively for female competitors. Though ice hockey rinks are used, #Ringette rink, ringette rinks use markings specific to ringette and the sport uses strategic play which more closely resembles basketball than ice hockey. Golf

James Steacy
James Steacy (born 29 May 1984 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) is a male hammer thrower from Canada. His personal best of 79.13 metres, achieved in May 2008 in Lethbridge, Alberta, stands as the current Canadian record. He represented Canada at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. With a top 12 finish at the 2008 Summer Olympics, he became the first Canadian in 84 years to reach the Olympic hammer throw final. Competing for University of Lethbridge, he is a five time CIS national champion in the weight throw and is the current CIS record holder in the event. Molinex Trophy
The Molinex Trophy is awarded annually to the women's rugby union champions of U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. The first women's rugby union championship was held in November 1998. The tournament features eight teams playing in a single-elimination format, which takes place over four days and features 11 games at a single, pre-determined host site. The trophy was donated by Molinex Sports, the official Canadian distributor of Gilbert Rugby balls. The 2020 championship tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ENMAX Centre
The ENMAX Centre (formerly Canada Games Sportsplex) is a 5,479-seat multi-purpose arena, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. It features a full-size ice rink, and a walking track. An outdoor sports field, with capacity for 2,000 people, is no longer adjacent to the center, it was made into a parking lot. In 1997, the Servus Sports Centre (formerly the Lethbridge Soccer Centre) was built directly south. It was built to host the 1975 Canada Games and is home to the Lethbridge Hurricanes, of the WHL. The facility has hosted concerts, three-ring circuses, multicultural events, national curling championships, basketball events, banquets and skating events.
