"Let Me Hold You" is a song by American rapper Bow Wow. It was the first single off his fourth album, '' Wanted'' (2005). Released on March 11, 2005, the song features American R&B singer Omarion (the first collaboration they did together). It was co-written and co-produced by frequent producer Jermaine Dupri and No I.D. and uses a sample of Luther Vandross' 1985 version of Brenda Russell's " If Only for One Night". The song received positive reviews from critics. "Let Me Hold You" peaked at number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, making this the first top 10 hit for both Bow Wow and for Omarion as a solo artist. It also became a number-one hit for both artists on the Hot Rap Songs chart and stayed there for seven weeks. Shad Gregory Moss (born March 9, 1987), better known by his stage name Bow Wow (formerly Lil' Bow Wow), is an American rapper and actor. His career began upon being discovered by rapper Snoop Dogg in the late 1990s, eventually being brought to record producer Jermaine Dupri and signed to So So Def Recordings. As Lil' Bow Wow, he released his first album at age 13, '' Beware of Dog'', in 2000, which was followed by ''Doggy Bag'' a year later. "If Only for One Night" is a song written and originally performed by American singer-songwriter Brenda Russell on her self-titled debut studio album in 1979. In 1988, in Europe, it was issued as the B-side of her single "Gravity". The song was covered by Luther Vandross in 1985 for his fourth studio album, '' The Night I Fell in Love'', and was also released as a single. Vandross has performed the song on several concert tours, including his The Night I Fell in Love Tour (1985–86). Omari Ishmael Grandberry (born November 12, 1984), better known by his stage name Omarion, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, actor and dancer. He rose to prominence as the lead singer of the boy band B2K. The group achieved success in the early 2000s with their singles "Gots ta Be", " Uh Huh", "Girlfriend", and the number-one hit "Bump, Bump, Bump". Bryan Barber (born December 20, 1970) is a music video and motion picture filmmaker. He has directed many music videos for popular artists, including Outkast's "The Way You Move" and "The Whole World". Barber is known for sprinkling scenes from classic film and television into his music videos. Barber's first feature film was 2006's '' Idlewild'', which he wrote, directed, and co-produced. The film is a 1930s musical set in the fictional Georgia town of Idlewild. The film starred Outkast (whose members are André 3000 and Big Boi), Paula Patton, Terrence Howard and Faizon Love. Outkast contributed a song and also produced an accompanying soundtrack album.
