Let's Go Eat The Factory
''Let's Go Eat the Factory'' is the 16th album by Dayton, Ohio rock group Guided by Voices. The album was first released on December 20, 2011 digitally through the iTunes Store, then by mail-order on January 1, 2012, and finally released retail on January 24, 2012. The album is the first since their 2004 dissolution, and the first to feature the band's classic lineup since 1996's '' Under the Bushes Under the Stars''. The album was produced by the band and recorded at the homes of members Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell, and Greg Demos. As with previous albums, it features the band's famously lo-fi 4-track sound as well as more modern production. It is also the first Guided by Voices album to be released under the Guided by Voices, Inc. label. The album debuted at #17 on ''Billboards Top Heatseekers chart and #24 on Billboard's Tastemaker Albums chart. Lo-fi
Lo-fi (also typeset as lofi or low-fi; short for low fidelity) is a music or production quality in which elements usually regarded as imperfections in the context of a recording or performance are present, sometimes as a deliberate choice. The standards of sound quality (fidelity) and music production have evolved throughout the decades, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have been originally recognized as such. Lo-fi began to be recognized as a style of popular music in the 1990s, when it became alternately referred to as DIY music (from "do it yourself"). Harmonic distortion and " analog warmth" are sometimes confused as core features of lo-fi music. Greg Demos is an American musician and lawyer from Dayton, Ohio best known as a long time bassist for Guided by Voices. By trade, he is a partner in the law firm of Fowler, Demos & Stueve in Lebanon, Ohio. Demos has also performed with The New Creatures and 3 Dream Bag. Mitch Mitchell (guitarist)
Charles M. "Mitch" Mitchell III (born December 25, 1959) is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer, best known as the lead guitar in the early lineups of Dayton, Ohio, band Guided by Voices sporadically from 1983 to 1996. After leaving the band, Mitchell formed his own group, Mitch Mitchell's Terrifying Experience. Tobin Sprout
Tobin Sprout (born April 28, 1955) is an American visual artist, musician, songwriter, and children's author. He is best known as a former member of the indie rock band Guided by Voices. He served as a secondary major songwriter and guitarist of the group from 1987 to 1997 and again from 2010 to 2014. He was also a founding member of the band fig.4, who participated in the Dayton new wave scene in the mid 80s. Robert Ellsworth Pollard Jr. (born October 31, 1957) is an American singer and songwriter who is the leader and creative force behind indie rock group Guided by Voices. In addition to his work with Guided by Voices, he continues to have a prolific solo career with 22 solo albums released so far. With nearly 3,000 songs registered to his name with BMI, Pollard is among the most prolific songwriters of his time. In 2006, '' Paste'' magazine listed him as the 78th-greatest living songwriter. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Under The Bushes Under The Stars
''Under the Bushes Under the Stars'' is the ninth Guided by Voices album overall, and the last until 2012's Let's Go Eat the Factory to feature the "classic" lineup including Tobin Sprout, Mitch Mitchell (GBV), Mitch Mitchell, and Kevin Fennell in addition to leader Robert Pollard. The album is noted as Guided by Voices' first stab at professionalism, being recorded in 24 track studios rather than their customary Multitrack recording, 4 track. Sessions for the album were reportedly arduous, spread as they were across at least four studios and as many sets of producers, and many titles and configurations were vetted before a final sequence was reached. The final six tracks on the CD do not appear on the album's back cover.
