Lester Ryan (hurler Born 1988)
Lester Ryan (born 1 May 1988) is an Irish hurler who plays as a midfielder for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Clara, County Kilkenny, Ryan first arrived on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Kilkenny under-21 team, before later joining the intermediate side. He joined the senior panel for the 2011 championship. Ryan has since become a regular member of the team and has won four All-Ireland medals, four Leinster medals and four National Hurling League medals. He captained the team to the All-Ireland title in 2014. He has also captained Kilkenny to Leinster (2014 and 2016) and National Hurling League (2014) successes. At club level Ryan is a two-time championship medallist at senior level with Clara. In addition to this he has also won All-Ireland, Leinster and championship medals in the intermediate grade. John Power (Carrickshock Hurler)
John Power (born 26 August 1992) is an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Born in Carrickshock, County Kilkenny, Power first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2014 championship. Since then he has become a regular member of the team and has won two All-Ireland medals and two Leinster medals. At club level Power plays with Carrickshock. His father, Richie Power Snr, and his brother, Richie Power Jnr, are also All-Ireland medallists with Kilkenny. Richard "Richie" Power (born 4 December 1985) is an Irish hurler who played as a centre-forward at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Carrickshock, County Kilkenny, Power first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fifteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2005 league. Power immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and has won eight All-Ireland medals, five Leinster medals and three National League medals. John O'Dwyer
John O'Dwyer (born 17 September 1991) is an Irish hurling, hurler who plays for Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, Tipperary Senior Championship club Killenaule GAA, Killenaule and previously played at inter-county level with the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a centre-forward. Playing career Cork Institute of Technology O'Dwyer studied at the Cork Institute of Technology and joined the CIT GAA, senior hurling team in his second year at the institute. 2012 National Hurling League
The 2012 National Hurling League commenced in February 2012. 34 GAA county hurling teams: 32 from Ireland (including Fingal but not Cavan), London and Warwickshire, contested it. On 6 May Kilkenny defeated Cork in the final to win their 15th NHL title, moving them to second place in the all-time roll of honour, behind Tipperary who have won 19 Leagues. Format The 2012 format was originally to consist of five divisions: Divisions 1 and 2 having eight teams in each, Division 3A six, Division 3B seven, and six teams in Division 4. However, this was controversially altered to a system of six divisions, with six teams in divisions 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B and 3A, and four in division 3B. This meant that many counties were effectively relegated to a lower division. The 2011 National Hurling League (known as the Allianz Hurling League for sponsorship reasons) was the 80th season of the National Hurling League. Ticket prices In January 2011, the GAA announced a reduction in ticket prices for the 2011 National Hurling League. The decision to cut prices was announced at a Central Council meeting and will see the cost of admission to a league game in the first division of the NHL dropping from €15 to €13, with a €5 admission to lower-level hurling games. Division 1 Galway came into the season as defending champions of the 2010 season. Wexford entered Division 1 as the promoted team. On 1 May 2011, Dublin won the title following a 0–22 to 1–7 win over Kilkenny in the final. It was their first league title since 1938–39 and their 3rd National League title overall. All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. The championship was contested as the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2018 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2019. The final, currently held on the fourth Sunday in August, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determine which team receives the James Nowlan Cup.
