Leslie Wright (cricketer)
Leslie Wright (20 January 1903 – 6 January 1956) was an English first-class cricketer who played 193 matches between 1925 and 1933, every one of them for Worcestershire. He was primarily an opening batsman and an occasional medium-paced bowler. Wright played as a professional for Stourbridge Cricket Club before beginning his county career. Obituary. He did not play again that season, but in 1926 he appeared on 26 occasions, and ended the summer with 873 first-class runs at an average of 18.97. This tally included his maiden hundred, 111 against Hampshire (sharing an opening partnership of 185 with Maurice Jewell) in midsummer. He also picked up the first of his 76 wickets when he removed Leicestershire's Les Berry and Alec Skelding in early June. Leslie Wright (priest)
The Venerable Leslie Wright CBE was an eminent Anglican priest in the second half of the 20th century. He was born on 18 November 1899 and educated at St. Bees School and the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. He was Commissioned into the Royal Artillery in 1919 and retired in 1926. He was Travelling Secretary for the Officers' Christian Union from 1928 to 1935 when he was ordained a priest in the Church of England. After a curacy at St Andrews, Nottingham he became a RAF Chaplain, rising through the service to become an Honorary Chaplain to the King and eventually its Archdeacon (Chaplain-in-Chief). He was Vicar of Wimbledon from 1953 to 1961 and of Kingston Vale until his retirement in 1968. He died on 28 April 1972.The Times ''The Times'' is a British daily national newspaper based in London. Leslie Stephen Wright (1913–1997) was an American educator. He served as the President of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama from 1958 to 1983. Biography Early life He was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1913. He received a B.A. in 1936 and an M.A. in 1939, both from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Career From 1936 to 1941, he taught in schools in Kentucky and Alabama. In 1941, he worked for DuPont and, in 1942, for the War Production Board. He served as the state director for the Civilian Production Administration and the Alabama Savings Bond division of the United States Department of the Treasury from 1947 to 1950. From 1950 to 1954, he worked for Democratic Senator J. Lister Hill. From 1954 to 1958, he was executive secretary of the Baptist Foundation of Alabama.
