Leslie Malton
Leslie Antonia Malton (born 15 November 1958) is an American-German actress. She is the chairman of the Bundesverband Schauspiel (BFFS). Life Malton is the daughter of a US diplomat father and an Austrian mother. She only lived in the United States for five years. She spent her school and youth days in Vienna. At the age of 14, she already wanted to be an actress. Malton started her career at the theater. From 1985 she was a member of the Wiener Burgtheater, where she first appeared as Ophelia in William Shakespeare's ''Hamlet'' (title role Klaus Maria Brandauer; director Hans Hollmann). Later she was often seen in productions by George Tabori for radio plays. Malton has played and starred in numerous German television films and series and also works as a spokeswoman for radio plays. The Goldene Kamera ("Golden Camera") is an annual German film and television award, awarded by the Funke Mediengruppe. ''Possession'' is a 1981 psychological drama and horror film directed by Andrzej Żuławski and written by Żuławski and Frederic Tuten. The plot obliquely follows the relationship between an international spy (Sam Neill) and his wife (Isabelle Adjani), who begins exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior after asking for a divorce. ''Possession'', an international co-production between France and West Germany, was filmed in West Berlin in 1980. Żuławski's only English-language film, it premiered at the 34th Cannes Film Festival, where Adjani won the Best Actress award for her performance. Rett Syndrome
Rett syndrome (RTT) is a genetic disorder that typically becomes apparent after 6–18 months of age and almost exclusively in females. Symptoms include impairments in language and coordination, and repetitive movements. Those affected often have slower growth, difficulty walking, and a smaller head size. Complications of Rett syndrome can include seizures, scoliosis, and sleeping problems. The severity of the condition is variable. Rett syndrome is due to a genetic mutation in the MECP2 gene, on the X chromosome. It almost always occurs as a new mutation, with less than one percent of cases being inherited from a person's parents. It occurs almost exclusively in girls; boys who have a similar mutation typically die shortly after birth. Diagnosis is based on the symptoms and can be confirmed with genetic testing.
