Leslie Coombs Brand (1859–1925) was an American real estate developer. He is best known for developing Glendale, California. Their father died when he was ten years old and the family resettled in St. Louis. At twenty years old, Brand moved to Moberly, Missouri and became a recorder for Randolph County. Florissant () is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, within Greater St. Louis. It is a middle class, second-ring northern suburb of St. Louis. Based on the 2020 United States census, the city had a total population of 52,533, making it the 12th-largest city in Missouri and the largest municipality in St. Louis County. History The exact date the first settlers went to the Valley of Florissant is unknown, but it is one of the oldest settlements in the state of Missouri. Nathaniel Dryden
Nathaniel Dryden (1849–1924) was an American building contractor and architect. Early life Nathaniel Dryden was born on February 14, 1849, in Montgomery County, Missouri. His father was Frederick Hambleton Dryden, born in Washington County, VA, in 1812, and his mother was Catherine E. Sharp. He was a relative of the San Diego building contractor, David Owen Dryden (1877–1946) who built notable bungalows in the city during the 1910s. A great grandfather, David Dryden, Jr., erected a two-story log house in 1772, which was listed on the Register of Historic Virginia Homes, and has been called the oldest occupied residence in the state. Career Nathaniel Dryden was a self taught architect, initially trained as a brick layer. He was known to have designed four large residential houses as well as twelve smaller homes in Glendale. Grand Central Airport (California)
Grand Central Airport is a former airport in Glendale, California. Also known as Grand Central Air Terminal (GCAT), the airport was an important facility for the growing Los Angeles suburb of Glendale in the 1920s and a key element in the development of United States aviation. The terminal, located at 1310 Air Way, was built in 1928 and still exists, owned since 1997 by The Walt Disney Company as a part of its Grand Central Creative Campus (GC3). Three hangars also remain standing. The location of the single concrete runway has been preserved, but is now a public street as the runway was dug up and converted into Grand Central Avenue. The terminal building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 27, 2017.
