Lesce
Lesce () is a town in the Municipality of Radovljica in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. It is an industrial and tourist centre. It is one of the earliest-mentioned settlements in the region, first noted in a document from 1004 together with Bled and Bohinj. In the centre of the old town there is a three-aisled pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, originally a Gothic church with remnants of 14th-century frescos on its exterior, but which was extensively changed in the 17th century in the Baroque style. The church is known for its frescoes in the dome of the presbytery painted by Franc Jelovšek. Lesce is the location of the Lesce–Bled Airfield and Šobec Campground. Lesce is also the home town of retired ski jumpers Vinko Bogataj and Franci Petek. Lesce was selected by MTV as the site for its annual Spring Break Jam in the spring of 2009. Lesce-Bled Airport
Lesce-Bled Airport ( sl, Letališče Lesce) is located in Lesce, in the northwest part of Slovenia, only a few "air" kilometers between airports in Slovenia and Austria. Road connections with Austria and Italy are possible via the A2 motorway. The operator of the airport is the Public Commercial Institution ALC Lesce-Bled, established by the nearby municipality of Radovljica. Permanent users of the airport include Aeroclub ALC Lesce-Bled, Flycom, Flight Academy and others. The Bled area is a popular tourist location, in large part due to scenic lake Bled. Flying Just north of the airport lies the Karavanke Alps mountain chain, which eases difficult flightpaths during bad weather. Šobec Campground
Šobec Campground is a name of campsite located south of Highway E61 near Lesce, Slovenia. The campsite lies next to Šobec Pond ( sl, Šobčev bajer), a small artificial lake created by impounding a few inflows below the upper river terrace, where the southern part of Lesce is located. Vinko Bogataj (Slovenian: ; born on March 4, 1948) is a Slovenian painter and former ski jumper. Footage of him crashing featured on ABC's '' Wide World of Sports'' represented the Agony of Defeat.. Franci Petek (born 15 June 1971) is a Slovenian former ski jumper and geographer who represented Yugoslavia during his ski jumping career. Career At the 1991 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme, Petek won a gold medal for Yugoslavia in the individual large hill. Petek's best finish at the Winter Olympics was 6th in the team large hill competition and 8th in the individual large hill at Albertville in 1992.
