Les Tres Torres (Barcelona Metro)
Les Tres Torres is a railway station situated under the ''Via Augusta'' in the Les Tres Torres neighbourhood of Barcelona. It is served by line L6 of the Barcelona Metro and lines S1 and S2 of the Metro del Vallès commuter rail system. All these lines are operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya, who also run the station. The station has twin tracks and two long side platforms. The line on which Les Tres Torres is located opened in 1863, but the first station on the site did not open until 1906. The current station was opened in 1952, when the line through the station was put underground. Barcelona Metro
The Barcelona Metro (Catalan and Spanish: ) is an extensive network of rapid transit electrified railway lines that run mostly underground in central Barcelona and into the city's suburbs. It is part of the larger public transport system of Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, Spain, with unified fares under the (ATM) scheme. As of 2014, the network is operated by two separate companies: (TMB) and (FGC). It is made up of 12 lines, combining the lines owned by the two companies. Two lines, L9 and L10, are being built at present, with both lines having different sections of each opened between 2009 and 2018. They are due to be fully completed in 2026. Les Tres Torres (, "the three towers") is a residential neighbourhood in the inland Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). History The area was originally undeveloped land between the villages of Sarrià and , taking in the small settlement of Gironella and the ''Nena Cases'' estate. Most of it formed the eastern part of the municipality of Sarrià, until the latter was incorporated into Barcelona in 1921. Development started with the construction between 1901 and 1903 of three grand residences (''torres'' in Catalan) by the Mas–Romaní partnership based in Sants, of which one still stands. This set the tone (and the name) for the new neighbourhood, and further grand buildings followed. In 1906 the Les Tres Torres station was opened on the railway line connecting Sarrià with the city, which spurred further development.
