Les Mead
Les Mead (1909-1996) was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s. A New South Wales interstate and Australian international representative goal-kicking half back, he played his club football in the New South Wales Rugby Football League Premiership with Western Suburbs. Playing career Son of Sydney's Western Suburbs' club pioneer Ted Mead, Mead started his career in Sydney before playing as captain-coach of Wauchope on New South Wales' North Coast in 1931 but returned to Wests the following year. With Western Suburbs he formed an effective partnership in the halves with Vic Hey. Mosman, New South Wales
Mosman is a suburb on the Lower North Shore region of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. 1937 NSWRFL Season
The 1937 New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership was the 30th season of the Sydney, New South Wales-based top-grade rugby league club competition, Australia's first. Nine teams from across the city contested the premiership during the season, which lasted from April until June, with Eastern Suburbs being crowned champions. Season summary The 1937 season only lasted eight rounds due to the Kangaroo tour, and used a “first past the post” system to determine the premiers. There were no Finals. The second half of what would normally have been the NSWRFL season was taken up with a City Cup competition. Eastern Suburbs won their seventh Premiership going through the season undefeated – a feat achieved by teams in only five other seasons before or since. Albert McGuinness
Albert McGuinness nicknamed "Podgy" was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s and 1940s. He played for Western Suburbs in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Playing career McGuinness made his first grade debut for Western Suburbs against North Sydney in Round 11 1933 at North Sydney Oval. Western Suburbs would go on to finish the 1933 season in last place on the table. In 1934, Western Suburbs had a complete form reversal as they finished minor premiers and the premiership defeating Eastern Suburbs in the grand final. McGuinness was overlooked for selection in the decider. The change in form was attributed to the fact that Western Suburbs lost players such as Frank McMillan and Alan Ridley who were away on tour with the Australian team when the club finished last but returned for the start of the 1934 season.
