Les Gorley
Leslie "Les" N. Gorley (1950 – September 11, 2019) was an English former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played at representative level for Great Britain, England and Cumbria, and at club level for Workington Town and Widnes as a second row. Great Broughton, Cumbria
Great Broughton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Broughton, in the Cumberland district, in the ceremonial county of Cumbria, England. It caters strongly for visitors. The estimated resident population was 1,823 in 2017. Location Great Broughton is west of Cockermouth, just north of River Derwent and the A66 road, and 4 miles (6.4 km) from the sea at Flimby. Neighbouring villages are Camerton to the west, Broughton Moor to the north and Papcastle to the east. Governance The village is in the parliamentary constituency of Workington. In the December 2019 general election, the Conservative Party candidate for Workington, Mark Jenkinson, was elected the MP, reversing a 9.4 per cent Labour majority in the 2017 election. The 1981–82 Rugby Football League season was the 87th ever season of professional rugby league football in Britain. Sixteen teams competed from August, 1981 until May, 1982 for the Championship. Wilderspool Stadium
Wilderspool Stadium was a rugby league stadium in Warrington, England. The ground was Warrington RLFC's old ground before moving to the Halliwell Jones Stadium. History In 1898, Warrington RLFC moved to the Wilderspool Stadium. A 10-year lease was agreed with Greenall Whitley for land on the east side of their previous ground, a pitch previously used by Latchford Rovers Rugby Club. Warrington's previous pitch was used to build houses in Fletcher Street. Wilderspool Stadium was modernised and extended in the inter-war period, becoming one of the finest venues in rugby league, and being awarded host status for Championship finals, Challenge Cup semi-finals, and tour games. A new west perimeter wall and turnstiles were built at Wilderspool around 1921. In 1925 the supporters' club provided Warrington with covered accommodation on the popular side of the ground and two years later, they donated a scoreboard. The 1977–78 Northern Rugby Football League season was the 83rd season of rugby league football. Sixteen English clubs competed for the Northern Rugby Football League Championship with Widnes claiming the title by finishing the season on top of the League.
