Les Battersby
Leslie Nelson "Les" Battersby (formerly Battersby-Brown) is a fictional character of the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', who appeared from 1997 to 2007, played by Bruce Jones. The character is best known for his outspoken opinions and his following of English rock band Status Quo. Storylines The Battersbys arrived when No. 5 was bought by Weatherfield Council, and a funny family was given the space. Les had at some point, spent six months in Strangeways prison for breaking and entering. He arrived with wife Janice (Vicky Entwistle), sixteen-year-old daughter Leanne ( Jane Danson) (from a previous relationship with Stella Price) and fifteen-year-old step-daughter Toyah ( Georgia Taylor) (from Janice's previous relationship with Ronnie Clegg). ''Coronation Street'' is an English soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres around a cobbled, terraced street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. William Joseph Waddington (10 June 1916 – 9 September 2000) was an English actor, comedian and co-author who was born in Oldham, Lancashire. In later life he achieved stardom as the pompous ex-serviceman Percy Sugden in Granada Television's long-running soap opera '' Coronation Street''. Biography Waddington was born on Saturday 10 June 1916 in Oldham, Lancashire. His parents William and Epsie ran the Clarence Hotel, a public house in Oldham. Percy Sugden
Percy Sugden is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', played by Bill Waddington. He appeared between 1983 and 1997. Creation The character was introduced to ''Coronation Street'' as a potential caretaker of the Community Centre. Philip Middlemiss
Philip Middlemiss (born Philip Sean Lloyd; 19 June 1963) is an English television, radio actor and businessman, best known for playing bookmaker Des Barnes in ITV's '' Coronation Street'' between 1990 and 1998. The character was killed off, ordered by Brian Park, who was the programme's producer at the time. He subsequently appeared in ITV's '' Where the Heart Is'' for a few series in the 2000s. Des Barnes
Des Barnes is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street'', played by Philip Middlemiss. Storylines Des was deeply in love with Steph (Amelia Bullmore), but she did not seem to care as deeply for him, and eventually left him for another man. Kevin Kennedy (born Kevin Patrick Williams, 4 September 1961) is an English actor and musician, best known for playing the character Curly Watts for 20 years in ITV's long-running television soap opera ''Coronation Street''. HM Prison Manchester is a Category A and B men's prison in Manchester, England, operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. It is still commonly referred to as Strangeways, which was its former official name derived from the area in which it is located, until it was rebuilt following a major riot in 1990.
