The genus was monotypic for a long time, containing only the type species, '' Leptosillia notha''. Molecular phylogenetic analysis published in 2019 showed that the genus belongs to the order Xylariales, and that the genus ''Cresporhaphis'' should be included in ''Leptosillia''.
