Leppington
Leppington is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Leppington is located 38 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government areas of the City of Liverpool and Camden Council. History The area now known as Leppington was originally home to the Darug people. It was named after a property called ''Leppington Park'' granted to William Cordeaux in 1821. Cordeaux used convict labor to build a two-storey mansion and to work in his fields. The house burnt down in the 1940s but some of the bricks from the house were re-used at Leppington Public School. The suburb could easily have been named Raby. The first land grant in what is now Leppington was made to Alexander Riley in 1810, who named his property ''Raby''. The property was subdivided in 1914 and a school established in 1923, called Raby Public School. Leppington Post Office opened on 12 February 1924. South West Rail Link
The South West Rail Link is a railway line serving the developing suburbs of south-western Sydney, Australia between Glenfield and Leppington. Services form part of the Sydney Trains commuter rail network. It opened on 8 February 2015. Description The line consists of a double-track railway, with stations in the suburbs of Leppington and Edmondson Park. The line is the major piece of public transport infrastructure for the Sydney metropolitan area's "South West Growth Centre". It connects with the rest of the Sydney rail network at Glenfield, where services can continue north on the Main South line or east on the East Hills line. Leppington station's four platforms can support frequent terminating services, even after an extension of the line. A train stabling facility to the west of the station further enhances this capability. Leppington Railway Station
Leppington railway station is the terminus of the South West Rail Link which serves the south-western Sydney suburb of Leppington. It opened on 8 February 2015. A ten road stabling facility is located to the west of the station at Rossmore. There are 850 car park spaces available. Platforms and services Leppington has two island platforms with four faces. Initial services consisted of a half-hourly shuttle to Liverpool. From 13 December 2015, trains operate directly to the city via Granville. From 26 November 2017, Cumberland Line services stop at the station, providing a link to Parramatta, Blacktown, Schofields and Richmond. Austral, New South Wales
Austral is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 42 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool. History The area that now constitutes the suburbs of Austral was a parcel of land in West Hoxton purchased by the Austral Banking and Land Proprietary. When residents pushed for a second public school in the Hoxton Park area in 1891, Austral Banking and Land Proprietary donated of its land for the site and, in return, the school was named Austral Public School. The name of the school became synonymous with the area although it wasn't officially recognised until 1972. Austral Post Office opened on 7 February 1894. Rossmore is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is bound to the east by Kemps Creek, the west by South Creek, the north by Fifteenth Avenue, and the south by Rileys Creek in the southwest and a non natural border from there. The main road through the centre of the suburb is Bringelly Road. History Rossmore was originally known as Cabramatta after the parish of Cabramatta. It was the subject of a novel called ''The Cabramatta Store'' by Mary Theresa Vidal, which is believed to be the first novel published by a woman in Australia. Horningsea Park is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Horningsea Park is located 39 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. History In 1819, Joshua John Moore a British grazier was granted in what was then known as Cabramatta. He named his property "Horningsea" after his birthplace, the village of Horningsea in Cambridgeshire, England. In the 1830s, he built a grand house which still stands to this day in Horningsea Park Drive and is listed on the Register of the National Estate. The house was at some stage home to Count Strzelecki, the Polish-born explorer who named Mount Kosciuszko. It was purchased around 1855 by Vaiben Solomon (1802–1860), and he called Horningsea Park. Anthony Perish
Anthony John Michael "Rooster" Perish (born 4 September 1969) is a convicted Australian murderer from Leppington, New South Wales, who killed a Sydney drug dealer, Terry Falconer, in November 2001. Perish was assisted in the murder of Falconer by his brother, Andrew, and an associate, Matthew Lawton. Anthony Perish, Andrew Perish, and Lawton pleaded not guilty and were trialled by jury. Anthony Perish and Lawton were found guilty of murder and criminal conspiracy; Andrew Perish was found guilty of criminal conspiracy. On 13 April 2012, all three were sentenced in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
