Leopoldo Pirelli
Leopoldo Pirelli ( Velate, 1925 – Portofino, January 23, 2007) was an Italian heir and businessman. Early life Leopoldo Pirelli was born in 1925 in Velate, Italy. His father was the prominent Italian industrialist Alberto Pirelli and his mother was Lodovica Zambeletti, daughter of the pharmaceutical industrialist Leopoldo Zambeletti. His paternal grandfather, Giovanni Battista Pirelli, was the founder of Pirelli. Career Pirelli joined Pirelli as a member of the Pirelli SpA board in 1954 and appointed deputy chairman serving from 1956 to 1965. He serves as its president from 1965 to 1996. In 1992, he remained chairman but let his son-in-law, Marco Tronchetti Provera, take over as managing director and executive deputy chairman. Personal life Pirelli had his wife Giulia Ferlito had a daughter, Cecilia (1952, married secondly to Marco Tronchetti Provera), and a son, Alberto (1954). Velate (Varese)
Varese ( , , or ; lmo, label=Varesino, Varés ; la, Baretium; archaic german: Väris) is a city and ''comune'' in north-western Lombardy, northern Italy, north-west of Milan. The population of Varese in 2018 has reached 80,559. It is the capital of the Province of Varese. The hinterland or exurban part of the city is called ''Varesotto''. Geography The city of Varese lies at the foot of Sacro Monte di Varese, part of the Campo dei Fiori mountain range, that hosts an astronomical observatory, as well as the Prealpino Geophysical Centre. The village which is in the middle of the mountain is called Santa Maria del Monte because of the medieval sanctuary, which is reached through the avenue of the chapels of the Sacred Mountain. Portofino
Portofino (; ) is a ''comune'' located in the Metropolitan City of Genoa on the Italian Riviera. The town is clustered around its small harbour, and is known for the colourfully painted buildings that line the shore. Since the late 19th century Portofino has attracted tourism of the European aristocracy and it is now a resort for the world's jet set. History Pliny the Elder (AD 23 – AD 79) referred to (Port of the Dolphin) as on the Ligurian coast between Genoa and the Gulf of Tigullio. The village is mentioned in a ''diploma'' from 986 by Adelaide of Italy, which assigned it to the nearby Abbey of San Fruttuoso di Capodimonte. Marco Tronchetti Provera
Marco Tronchetti Provera (; born 1948) is an Italian businessman. He was the chief executive officer of Pirelli & C. S.p.A. from 1992 to 2022 and its executive vice chairman since October 20, 2015. He is the chairman of Marco Tronchetti, Provera & C. S.p.A., a holding that he controls and which indirectly holds 50% of Camfin S.p.A. (where he was Chairman until December 2013). Camfin indirectly holds 41% of Marco Polo Industrial Holding S.p.A., the major shareholder who controls Pirelli & C. S.p.A. Biography Provera was born in Milan in 1948. He obtained a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Bocconi University of Milan in 1971. He entered the Pirelli Group in 1986.
