Puerto Rico Senatorial District IV, also known as the Senatorial District of Mayagüez-Aguadilla, is one of the eight senatorial districts of Puerto Rico. It is currently represented by Evelyn Vázquez and Luis Daniel Muñiz (both from the New Progressive Party). District profile The Senatorial District IV has an approximate population of 478,194. It covers the following municipalities: * Aguada * Aguadilla * Añasco * Cabo Rojo * Hormigueros * Isabela * Las Marías * Mayagüez * Moca * Rincón * San Germán * San Sebastián In previous distributions, the territory covered by the Senatorial District IV has changed. The Republican Party of Puerto Rico ( es, Partido Republicano de Puerto Rico) is the local affiliate of the national United States Republican Party in Puerto Rico. The affiliation started in 1903. The party does not participate in the November elections mandated by the Constitution of Puerto Rico for local registered political parties because it is not a registered party in Puerto Rico for local electoral purposes. The First Puerto Rican Senate, under United States occupation, was the first meeting of senators of the Senate of Puerto Rico elected as part of the legislative branch of their government. Elections for the Senate of Puerto Rico were authorized by passage of the Jones-Shafroth Act in 1917.
