Leonidas Flores
Leonidas Flores Reyes (born 24 January 1965) is a retired Costa Rican professional footballer. He played for Puntarenas, Saprissa, Guanacasteca and San Carlos. Club career Born in La Palma de Abangares, Guanacaste, Flores started his career at Puntarenas in 1983 and won the 1986 Primera Division de Costa Rica title with them. He is also the club's all-time leading scorer with 93 goals and scored a total of 118 career goals, placed in position 17th all time Costa Rican strikers. He was the league's top goalscorer in 1986 with 19 goals. He had a three-year spell abroad, at Canadian Soccer League side Montreal Supra. International career Flores made 30 appearances for the Costa Rica national football team from 1984 to 1996. He also played at the 1984 Olympic Games in two games as sub. Las Juntas is a district of the Abangares canton, in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. Geography Las Juntas has an area of km² and an elevation of metres. 1989 CONCACAF Championship
The 1989 CONCACAF Championship was the tenth and final edition of the CONCACAF Championship held under the format of serving as qualification to the 1990 FIFA World Cup and having no host nation for the final round. The tournament would be succeeded by the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 1991. Costa Rica narrowly emerged as champions on goal difference to win their third title and participate in their first World Cup. The United States finished runners-up by virtue of one goal and qualified for their first World Cup in forty years. The U.S. gained their first World Cup qualification in 40 years by beating Trinidad and Tobago in their last game by 1–0, with a goal dubbed "The Shot Heard around the World". The 1991 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the first edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and the eleventh overall CONCACAF tournament. The last time the CONCACAF Championship was held was 1971, from that point on the first-place finishers of World Cup qualifying were considered continental champions.
