Founded by: Sophia Slavin The Leones de León is a professional baseball team competing in the Nicaragua Professional Baseball League and the Nicaraguan baseball 1st division (Campeonato Nacional de Béisbol Superior de Nicaragua - GPO). Their home games are played at Estadio Héroes y Mártires de Septiembre in León, Nicaragua. Their biggest rival is Indios del Bóer. The Leones de Leon won the 2019 Latin American Baseball Series, which is the other counterpart of Caribbean Series, Serie Del Caribe, in a Final Game against the champion team of Mexico. Professional baseball is organized baseball in which players are selected for their talents and are paid to play for a specific team or club system. It is played in baseball league, leagues and associated farm teams throughout the world. Nicaragua Professional Baseball League
Liga de Beisbol Profesional Nacional (LBPN) is the professional baseball league of Nicaragua. The league consists of five teams with a 30 game regular season schedule that runs from November to December. Followed by a four team round robin, with the two best teams advancing to a best of seven championship series. Inaugurated on March 30, 1956, in Estadio Nacional, the first game was between the teams from San Fernando and Bóer. The Nicaraguan public's excitement for baseball grew as foreign professional teams and foreign players came to play in their country. Due to economic difficulty, the league had to shut down in 1967. The teams from Bóer and León were the most successful teams in those years with three championships each. The professional league was re-established in 2004. Indios Del Bóer
The Indios del Bóer are a professional baseball team based in Managua, Nicaragua competing in the Nicaraguan Professional Baseball League. Their home games are played at the Dennis Martínez National Stadium. They have won the Nicaraguan league eight times. The team, as well as their fans, are commonly referred to as ''La Tribu'' or ''the tribe''. History Indios del Bóer were established in 1905, simply as Bóer. The team's name comes from the Spanish name of boers, that was chosen to embody the team's values as fighters. The Indios' first uniform was: white cap, black shirt, white pants and black socks.
