Leonce-und-Lena-Preis
Leonce-und-Lena-Preis is a literary prize of Hesse. The award was founded in 1968, the City of Darmstadt has been awarding the prize since 1979. Leonce and Lena is a play by Georg Büchner. Silke Scheuermann
Silke Scheuermann (born 15 June 1973, in Karlsruhe) is a German poet and novelist. She was educated in Frankfurt, Leipzig, and Paris. She is best known for her debut novel ''Die Stunde zwischen Hund und Wolf'' (The Hour Between Dog and Wolf), which has been translated into ten languages including English. She has won numerous German and European literary prizes and fellowships, including the Georg-Christoph-Lichtenberg-Preis, the Leonce-und-Lena-Preis, the Hölty Prize, the Bertolt-Brecht-Literaturpreis, and a Villa Massimo fellowship. Hans-Ulrich Treichel
Prof. Dr. Hans-Ulrich Treichel (born 12 August 1952) is a Germanist, novelist and poet. His earliest published books were collections of poetry, but prose writing has become a larger part of his output since the critical and commercial success of his first novel ''Der Verlorene'' (translated into English as ''Lost''). Treichel has also worked as an opera librettist, most prominently in collaboration with the composer Hans Werner Henze. Early life and education Hans-Ulrich Treichel was born in Versmold in Westphalia in 1952 and lived there until 1968. After graduating from high school in Hanau, he studied German philology, philosophy and political science at the Free University of Berlin, where he earned his doctorate in 1983 with a thesis on Wolfgang Koeppen. Raphael Urweider
Raphael Bendicht Urweider was born on 5 November 1974 in Bern, Switzerland. He is a writer in English language, English and German language, German and a musician. Career Raphael Urweider is the son of a reformed minister. He studied German literature and philosophy at the University of Fribourg. He performed with LDeeP and has composed music for a number of plays. He also worked on two plays with Samuel Schwarz (director), Samuel Schwarz – Maxim Gorki Theatre and Deutsches Schauspielhaus (Hamburg). Raoul Schrott
Raoul Schrott (born 17 January 1964) is an Austrian poet, writer, literary critic, translator and broadcast personality. Schrott was raised in Tunis where his father served as an Austrian sales representative. He attended the universities of Norwich, Paris, Berlin and Innsbruck. He completed a thesis on "Dada 1921 – 1922 in Tirol". He translated Homer's writings into colloquial German. In 2008 he was appointed Visiting professor by the Free University Berlin. Kathrin Schmidt
Kathrin Schmidt (born 12 March 1958 in Gotha, Bezirk Erfurt), is a German writer. She is known both for her poetry and prose. Life and work Kathrin Schmidt grew up in Gotha and from 1964 in Waltershausen. After graduating from high school, she studied psychology at the University of Jena from 1976 to 1981. After completing her studies (diploma), she worked as a research assistant at the University of Leipzig from 1981 to 1982, and then as a child psychologist at the Rüdersdorf District Hospital and at the Berlin-Marzahn Child and Youth Health Protection Center. In 1986/1987, she completed special studies at the Johannes R. Becher Institute of Literature in Leipzig. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she worked at the Round Table in East Berlin. Kerstin Hensel (born 1961) is a German writer. Biography Hensel was born in 1961 in Karl-Marx Stadt in the former GDR. A trained nurse, she also studied at the Johannes R. Ulrike Almut Sandig (born 1979) is a German writer. She was born in Großenhain in the former GDR, and has lived in Riesa, Leipzig and Berlin. She studied religion and indology at university, and then studied at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig. She started her writing career by distributing her poems in public places in Leipzig. She has published three volumes of poetry: ''Zunder'' (2005/2009), ''Streumen'' (2007), and ''Dickicht'' (2011). Her first book of short stories titled ''Flamingos'' came out in 2010. She has also written for the radio, and published audiobooks.
