Leonard Hawthorne Darlot (18 September 1862 – 3 August 1943) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1900 to 1901, representing Electoral district of De Grey, De Grey. His brother, Everard Darlot, was also an MP. The Western Australian Legislative Assembly, or lower house, is one of the two chambers of the Parliament of Western Australia, an Australian state. The Parliament sits in Parliament House in the Western Australian capital, Perth. The Legislative Assembly today has 59 members, elected for four-year terms from single-member electoral districts. Members are elected using the preferential voting system. As with all other Australian states and territories, voting is compulsory for all Australian citizens over the legal voting age of 18. Role and operation Most legislation in Western Australia is initiated in the Legislative Assembly. The party or coalition that can command a majority in the Legislative Assembly is invited by the Governor to form a government. Electoral District Of De Grey
De Grey was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia from 1890 to 1901. The district was located in the Western Australian outback, in the north of the state. It was one of the original 30 seats contested at the 1890 election but was abolished after three parliamentary terms. Everard Darlot
Everard Firebrace Darlot (23 January 1859 – 5 November 1937) was an Australian pastoralist and politician who was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1890 to 1894, representing the seat of Murchison. Darlot was born in Oakleigh, Victoria (on the outskirts of Melbourne), and arrived in Western Australia in 1878. His brother Leonard Darlot (who also became an MP) arrived in 1882, and the two initially worked at Beringarra Station, which was owned by their father.
