Leonard A. Sawyer
Leonard Alson Sawyer (May 18, 1925 – August 19, 2015) was a lawyer and politician in the American state of Washington. He represented the 25th district (Pierce County) as a Democrat initially elected in 1955, serving until 1975. He was Speaker of the House from 1973 to 1977. He was born in Puyallup, Washington and attended the University of Washington Law School. The Washington House of Representatives is the lower house of the Washington State Legislature, and along with the Washington State Senate makes up the legislature of the U.S. state of Washington. It is composed of 98 Representatives from 49 districts, each of which elects one Senator and two members of the House. They are elected to separate positions with the top-two primary system.
