Leola is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. It includes the unincorporated communities of Leola, Leacock, and Bareville, and prior to 2010 was known as the Leacock-Leola-Bareville census-designated place. Originally named "Mechanicsburg", its present name is a portmanteau of "Leacock" and the "Glenola" train station that once served the town. As of the 2010 census, the population of the CDP was 7,214. Demographics Geography and climate Leola is in central Lancaster County, primarily in Upper Leacock Township, and extending east into the southern corner of West Earl Township. Leola Isabel Freeman (March 21, 1900 - August 21, 1989) was an American artist and gallery owner. She specialized in landscapes, portraiture, and Mexican genre paintings. The bulk of her career took place in El Paso, Texas. Early life and education Freeman was born Leola Isabel Warnock in Gonzalez, Texas to William Joseph Warnock and Josephine Cecilia (née Sheley). In 1904 the family relocated to El Paso, Texas where W. J. Warnock established a dental practice. Freeman graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School in 1914, and St. Joseph's Academy (now Loretto Academy) in 1917. From 1917-1919 she attended Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, Georgetown Visitation School (then called Georgetown Visitation Convent School) in Washington D. Leola Hall
Leola Hall (1881–1930), also known as Leola Hall Coggins, was an American architect and builder who worked in the American Craftsman style. During the prime years of her career, she was the only female architect active in Berkeley, California, making her the East Bay counterpart of the much more famous Julia Morgan in San Francisco. The large number of houses she built in Berkeley, California, following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake defined what is now often considered Berkeley's signature version of the Craftsman style. Leola Neal
Leola Neal (1911–1995) was a Canadian psychologist born in Merlin, Ontario. Neal taught at the University of Western Ontario where she was appointed the Dean of Women, and was the first female president of the Ontario Psychological Association and the second woman to serve on the board of the Canadian Psychological Association. Neal's work helped promote undergraduate psychology curriculums and define standards for psychological counselling. Academic life Neal's family moved to London, Ontario so that Neal could attend the University of Western Ontario, where illness forced her to move from the honors program to the general program.
