Leo Neugebauer
Leo Neugebauer (born 19 June 2000) is a German multi-event track and field athlete. He is the German record holder in the decathlon and indoor heptathlon and Olympic silver medalist in the decathlon, having placed second at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Early life Neugebauer was born in Görlitz and grew up in Stuttgart from the age of six weeks onwards. His mother, Diana, is from Germany, and his father, Terrance, is a soccer player from Cameroon. He has one sister. Neugebauer joined the athletics club LG Leinfelden-Echterdingen, south of Stuttgart. He moved to the University of Texas in the United States on a sport scholarship to initially study mechanical engineering in 2019, but later switched to economics. Heptathlon
A heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. The name derives from the Greek επτά (hepta, meaning "seven") and ἄθλος (áthlos, or ἄθλον, áthlon, meaning "competition"). A competitor in a heptathlon is referred to as a heptathlete. There are two heptathlons – the men's and the women's heptathlon – composed of different events. The men's heptathlon is older and is held indoors, while the women's is held outdoors and was introduced in the 1980s, first appearing in the Olympics in 1984. Frank Busemann
Frank Busemann (; born 26 February 1975 in Recklinghausen) is a former Germany, German decathlon, decathlete. He currently works as a pundit for athletics coverage by German TV channel Das Erste. Busemann started his career as a 110 metres hurdles, 110 m hurdler and was 1994 World Junior Championships in Athletics, junior world champion in this discipline in 1994. After his surprising decathlon silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics with his personal best of 8706 points he became one of Germany's most popular sportsmen. He also was named ''German Sportsman of the Year''. At the 1997 World Championships in Athletics, World Championships of the following year Busemann came third. After these successes Busemann confronted severe injuries from which he only recovered partly. He made a comeback at the 2000 Olympics where he finished in seventh place. The 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships was the 102nd NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the 42nd NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon on the campus of the University of Oregon. 42 events (21 men's and 21 women's) were contested from Wednesday, June 5 until Saturday, June 8, starting with the men's decathlon and ending with the women's relay. 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track And Field Championships
The 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships was the 59th NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships and the 42nd NCAA Division I Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Massachusetts. The field consisted of 17 different men's and women's indoor track and field events with a total of 650 participants contested from March 8 to March 9, 2024. Jürgen Hingsen (; born 25 January 1958) is a former West German decathlete who won several medals at international championships and Olympic Games in the 1980s, and held the decathlon world record in 1982 and again from 1983 to 1984. His rivalry with British decathlete Daley Thompson proved one of the most exciting in athletics during the 1980s. Ayden Owens-Delerme (born 28 May 2000) is a Puerto Rican decathlete. He finished fourth at the 2022 World Athletics Championships. Professional Despite being born and raised in the United States, Owens-Delerme represents Puerto Rico on the international stage, as his family on his mother's side are Puerto Rican and he visited the island yearly in his childhood. Ashton James Eaton (born January 21, 1988) is a retired American decathlete and two-time Olympic champion, who holds the world record in the indoor heptathlon event. Eaton was the second decathlete (after Roman Šebrle) to break the 9,000-point barrier in the decathlon, with 9,039 points, a score he bettered on August 29, 2015, when he beat his own world record with a score of 9,045 points, and remains the only person to exceed 9000 points twice. His world record was broken by Frenchman Kevin Mayer on September 16, 2018, with a total of 9,126 points, who became the third man to pass the 9,000-point barrier. Kyle Garland (born May 28, 2000) is an American decathlete. Prep Career Garland was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his prep career at private Germantown Academy before enrolling as a student at the University of Georgia. As a senior at Germantown, Garland won the 2018 PAISAA state championships in the long jump, javelin, 300 meter hurdles, and 110 meter hurdles. As an unattached junior athlete, Garland won gold at the 2018 USATF U20 Championships in the decathlon scoring 7562 points. He then went on to finish 7th at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships. 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country.
