Leo Meijer
Leo Meyer (29 August 1873, in Karlino – 11 February 1944) was a German film producer. He is sometimes also credited as Leo Meijer. Following the Nazi rise to power Meyer, who was Jewish, went into exile and emigrated to the Netherlands where he continued to produce films. Karlino
Karlino (formerly german: Körlin an der Persante) is a town in Białogard County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. It has a population of 5,729 (2004). Up to the Potsdam Agreement of 1945 it was former eastern territories of Germany, part of Germany, a town in the Province of Pomerania (1815–1945), Province of Pomerania. Since the 14th century, the bishops of Kamień Pomorski, Cammin had their residence in Körlin, which was their property. The town is known in Poland for an oil gusher at a nearby oil well, exploration oil well, which Karlino oil eruption, erupted and caught fire on December 9, 1980. It burned until January 14, 1981, when it was finally put out, after dominating the news for weeks. ''Sex in Chains'' (german: Geschlecht in Fesseln – Die Sexualnot der Strafgefangenen) is a 1928 silent film directed by William Dieterle. Plot The film opens with Franz Sommer (Dieterle) and his newlywed wife, Helene ( Mary Johnson). They are going through hard times, and Sommer is without steady employment, partly due to his honest-to-a-fault nature. Helene takes a job selling cigars and cigarettes at a restaurant. When a patron advances on Helene and ignores Sommer's warning to leave her alone, Sommer pushes him away. He falls and hits his head, dying some days later. Sommer is arrested and sentenced to three years in prison. Sommer is kept in a large cell with four other people, one of whom, Steinau (Gunnar Tolnæs), is soon acquitted and promises Sommer to help his wife while he's incarcerated. A film producer is a person who oversees film production. Either employed by a production company or working independently, producers plan and coordinate various aspects of film production, such as selecting the script, coordinating writing, directing, editing, and arranging financing.
