Leo Austria
Leovino R. Austria (born March 14, 1958), better known as Leo Austria, is a Filipino former professional basketball player and the current head coach of the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Playing career Austria played his college basketball for the Lyceum of the Philippines University while also suiting up in the commercial Philippine Amateur Basketball League via Masagana 99. In 1984, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Ambassador's Cup before joining the PBA. In 1985, a new team Formula Shell drafted him, aside from nabbing fellow PABL standout Sonny Cabatu in the said draft. He made a quick impact for the new but veteran laden Shell squad and won the Rookie of the Year honors at season's end. His average of 3.9 points per game for that season marked the lowest average for a Rookie of the Year awardee up to that time. The 2016–17 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup, also known as the 2016–17 Oppo-PBA Philippine Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the first conference of the 2016–17 PBA season. 2013 ABL Season
The 2013 ASEAN Basketball League Regular Season was the fourth season of competition of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) since its establishment. A total of six teams competed in the league. The regular season began on 11 January 2013 and ended on 19 May 2013. Two teams from the previous season, inaugural champions AirAsia Philippine Patriots and Bangkok Cobras did not return for the current season. Preseason The ABL underwent contraction after it was announced that the Bangkok Cobras and the AirAsia Philippine Patriots would not be returning for the current season. The Brunei Barracudas, who were on leave for the 2012 season, were not announced to the list of active teams for 2013. A new format was announced for the regular season, where the teams will play each four times, twice at home and twice away, a deviation from the earlier seasons where teams played each other thrice. Philippine Basketball League
The Philippine Basketball League (PBL) was a commercial semi-professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league was composed of several commercial teams with several collegiate and provincial stars. History The PBL was formed on May 6, 1983, a brainchild of San Miguel Corporation chairman Danding Cojuangco, under its original name the Philippine Amateur Basketball League (PABL). It was the successor of the defunct Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), which folded during the early-1980s. During the inaugural PABL tournament, 37 teams divided into four divisions from collegiate and commercial ranks participated in the tournament that was played in the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum. Baby Dalupan PBA Coach Of The Year Award
The Baby Dalupan Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Coach of the Year is an annual Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) award given since the 1993 PBA season.
