Lenin Library
The Russian State Library (russian: Российская государственная библиотека, Rossiyskaya gosudarstvennaya biblioteka) is one of the three national libraries of Russia, located in Moscow. It is the largest library in the country and one of the largest in the world. Its holdings crossed over 47 million units in 2017. It is a federal library overseen by the Ministry of Culture, including being under its fiscal jurisdiction. Its foundation lay in the opening of the Moscow Public Museum and Rumyantsev Museum in Moscow in 1862. This museum evolved from a number of collections, most notably Count Nikolay Rumyantsev's library and historical collection. Russian State Children's Library
The Russian State Children's Library, also called the RGDB, is the world's largest Children's library, located in the Russian capital of Moscow. The library receives 45,000 visitors a year and 1.2 million online visitors annually. As of 2019, the Russian State Children's Library has over 560,000 books in its collection, in addition to other materials. History The building was established in December 1969, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019. Vladimir Putin congratulated the library's anniversary. The Library runs a cultural exchange project called ''Hello, Neighbour!'' that seeks to introduce Russians to other cultures. In 2019, the Emirati Kalimat Foundation for Children’s Empowerment donated large numbers of Arabic children's books to the library as part of a cultural exchange program with Arabs, and in 2020, the library hosted an online "Fabulous Azerbaijan" initiative about Azerbaijani culture and traditions. ''The Appearance of Christ Before the People'' (russian: Явление Христа народу ''Yavleniye Khrista narodu'') or ''The Apparition of the Messiah'' is an oil painting on canvas, measuring 540 cm × 750 cm, by the Russian painter Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov (1806–1858). The painting has been called his magnum opus and took twenty years to complete (1837–1857). The narrative of the painting is based on the first chapter of the Gospel according to John. Artist Alexander Ivanov was born on 28 July 1806 to a family of artists. He was only eleven years old when he entered as a student in the Imperial Academy of Arts, where he studied under the guidance of his father, Andrei Ivanovich Ivanov, a professor of painting.
