Len Johnson (cricketer)
Leonard Joseph Johnson (18 March 1919 – 20 April 1977) was an Australian cricketer who played in one Test match in 1948. Cricket career Johnson gained recognition representing Queensland in the "Sheffield Shield" competition for Australian troops at Bougainville, in the Solomons, at the end of World War II. He played for Queensland from 1946–47 to 1952–53. He toured New Zealand with an Australian second XI in 1950, but despite his talent he only played one Test: against India at Melbourne in the final Test of the 1947–48 series. He scored 25 not out and took 3 for 66 and 3 for 8. Earlier in the season he had taken seven wickets in Queensland's victory over the Indian team. It is thought that Sam Loxton won preference over him in selection for the 1948 tour of England. He achieved his best bowling figures of 7 for 43 twice: against New South Wales in 1949–50, and against Western Australia in 1951–52. Sam Loxton
Samuel John Everett Loxton (29 March 19213 December 2011) was an Australian cricketer, footballer and politician. Among these three pursuits, his greatest achievements were attained on the cricket field; he played in 12 Tests for Australia from 1948 to 1951. A right-handed all-rounder, Loxton was part of Don Bradman's ''Invincibles'', who went through the 1948 tour of England undefeated, an unprecedented achievement that has never been matched. As well as being a hard-hitting middle-order batsman, Loxton was a right-arm fast-medium swing bowler who liked to aim at the upper bodies of the opposition, and an outfielder with an accurate and powerful throw. After being dropped from the national team, Loxton represented Victoria for seven more seasons before retiring from first-class cricket. Peter John Allan (born 31 December 1935) is a former Australian cricketer who played in one Test in 1965. Life and career A tall right-arm fast-medium bowler, Allan made his first-class debut for Queensland in the 1959-60 season, but after that he spent some time working in Victoria, and did not establish himself in cricket until he returned to Queensland in 1963.''The Oxford Companion to Australian Cricket'', Oxford, Melbourne, 1996, pp. 13–14. Ross Duncan
John Ross Frederick Duncan (born 25 March 1944) is a former Australian cricketer who played one Test in 1971. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, Duncan was brought into the Test team for the Fifth Test at Melbourne which replaced the Victoria second tour match against the MCC in the 1970–71 Ashes series. Brought in as a fast-medium seam bowler to replace the injured Graham McKenzie, Duncan made only 3 with the bat and took 0/30 with the ball in the first innings, but did not bat or bowl in the second and took no catches. He was dropped for the Sixth Test in favour of Dennis Lillee. He also represented Australia in 1971–72 in one match against Gary Sobers' Rest of the World XI, again without success. He played for Queensland from 1964–65 to 1970–71, usually opening the bowling with Peter Allan, then for Victoria in 1971–72 and 1972–73. The Western Australian Men’s cricket team, formerly nicknamed the Western Warriors, represent the Australian state of Western Australia in Australian domestic cricket. Silkstone, Queensland
Silkstone is a suburb in the City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. In the , Silkstone had a population of 3,480 people. Geography Bundamba Creek marks the eastern boundary of Silkstone. History Newtown State School opened on 1 July 1882. In 1915 the school was moved to a new location and renamed Silkstone State School. In December 1895 the Anglican Diocese's architect John Buckeridge called for tenders to erect the Church of All Saints in Bundanba (as Bundamba was then known) on land donated by Miss Ferrett and Mr Harry Ferrett. Bishop William Webber laid the foundation stone on Friday 24 January 1896. Bishop Webber opened and dedicated the new church on Saturday 16 May 1896.
