Lemona (EP)
''Lemona'' is the debut EP by the American indie rock band Giant Drag. It was first released in June 2004 by the independent Los Angeles-based label Leftwing Recordings, before receiving a wider repressing in the United Kingdom through Wichita Recordings. Recording The EP was recorded in 2004 in Los Angeles at Record Plant and Dirty Little Studios. Release ''Lemona'' was first released on compact disc by the independent label Leftwing Recordings in Los Angeles in June 2004, which sold so well that the label "couldn't press enough copies" to keep up with the demand. The EP was subsequently given a wider release in the United Kingdom by the London-based Wichita Recordings on January 25, 2005. In June 2021, the band independently issued ''Lemona'' alongside their second EP, ''Swan Song'', as a joint release on vinyl for the first time. Giant Drag
Giant Drag is an American indie rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2003 by singer and guitarist Annie Hardy and drummer and keyboardist Micah Calabrese. After releasing their debut EP, '' Lemona'' in 2004, the band released their debut studio album, '' Hearts and Unicorns'' (2005) through Kickball Records, a subsidiary of Interscope. Interscope dropped the band from their label after issuing their single, "This Isn't It", in 2006, and Calabrese subsequently left the project. Hardy continued to record material for the band, and their second album, '' Waking Up is Hard to Do'', was self-released in 2013 through their own label, Full Psycho Records. In 2020, Hardy revealed she had written and recorded a third album with former Klaxons singer Jamie Reynolds in London. Wichita Recordings is an independent record label located in London, founded in 2000 by Mark Bowen and Dick Green. Its most notable signees include Bloc Party, The Cribs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Best Coast, Los Campesinos! and Peter Bjorn and John. The label signed Clap Your Hands Say Yeah for a UK distribution deal for the group's debut album. They also signed the UK producers Simian Mobile Disco for the UK. ''Hearts and Unicorns'' is the debut studio album by the American indie rock band Giant Drag. It was released September 13, 2005 in the United States and February 27, 2006 in the United Kingdom by Kickball Records. It was the second release by the band after their debut EP '' Lemona'', released in 2004. The album's UK release and subsequent 2006 North American repressing include a cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" as a bonus track. Recording ''Hearts and Unicorns'' was recorded at Dirty Little Studios and Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, California in 2005.
