Lele Nairne (born 29 September 1997) is an English international judoka. She has represented England at the Commonwealth Games. Biography Nairne won the 2018 European U23 silver. In 2022, she was selected for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as a replacement for the injured Lucy Renshall. She competed in the women's -57 kg category, reaching the semi-finals and just missing out on a medal after losing in the repechage bronze medal match. Weston-super-Mare
Weston-super-Mare, also known simply as Weston, is a seaside town in North Somerset, England. It lies by the Bristol Channel south-west of Bristol between Worlebury Hill and Bleadon Hill. It includes the suburbs of Mead Vale, Milton, Oldmixon, West Wick, Worlebury, Uphill and Worle. Its population at the 2011 census was 76,143. Since 1983, Weston has been twinned with Hildesheim in Germany. The local area has been occupied since the Iron Age. It was still a small village until the 19th century when it developed as a seaside resort. A railway station and two piers were built. The British Judo Championships are held annually and feature various age and weight categories to determine the British champion. The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Until 2013, the Championships were held under the title of either the British Closed Championships or the British Senior Trials. In 2013, the British Closed Championships/Senior Trials were merged with the all-age British Championships. The 2020 Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lucy Renshall
Lucy Renshall (born 11 December 1995) is a British judoka, who competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Early life and education Renshall is from Eccleston, St Helens. At age 8, she joined SKK Judo Club in Earlestown. She later trained at the British Judo Centre in Walsall and studied at the University of Wolverhampton. Judo career Renshall is a four times champion of Great Britain, winning the half-middleweight division at the British Judo Championships in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2021. In 2020, Renshall was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where she competed in the women's 63 kg category. Renshall is the 2021 Judo Grand Slam Antalya champion in the 63 kg class. She also won the gold medal in her event at the 2021 Judo Grand Slam Baku held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. The Games marked England's third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002, and the 7th Games held in the United Kingdom, with previous events in Wales and Scotland: Cardiff 1958, Edinburgh 1970 and 1986 and Glasgow 2014.
