The Leinster Senior League Cup is the most important provincial cricket knock-out cup of the Leinster jurisdiction in Ireland. The competition began as the Leinster Senior Cup in 1919 and was renamed in 2019. Traditionally a knock-out competition, from 2019 it has been played in a group format, with the winners and runners-up of two groups qualifying for semi-finals. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Old Belvedere Cricket Club
Old Belvedere Cricket Club was a cricket club in Dublin, Ireland, that played in the Leinster Senior League. The club was founded in 1950 and promoted to the Senior League in 1957. The club ceased to exist in 2012 when it withdrew from the league. The club was established in 1950 by past pupils of Belvedere College. It was the only club in Ireland capable of hosting two matches simultaneously, as there were two full pitches on the ground. The ground at the Navan Road, known as the Cabra Oval, is owned by Belvedere College. The college continues to play cricket there. Leinster Senior League (cricket)
The Leinster Senior League is the provincial cricket league within the Leinster jurisdiction in Ireland, which covers the province of Leinster in the Republic of Ireland. The league was formed in 1919, the nine founding members being Phoenix, Leinster, Pembroke, Dublin University, Railway Union, Civil Service, U.C.D., County Kildare and the Royal Hibernian Military School. The league is currently divided into twenty divisions, the top two (senior) divisions are designated as the Premier League and the Championship. The Championship includes two member clubs from the Munster province: Cork County and Cork Harlequins. Teams play each other twice per season, once at home and once away, with league positions determined on the basis of percentage of points gained out of possible total points. 20 points awarded for a win, 12.5 for a tie, no points are awarded for “ no result”, and up to five bonus points are awarded, depending on the margin of victory. Rush Cricket Club is a cricket club in Rush, County Dublin, Ireland. The club fielded three adult men's teams in 2021 with the first team playing in Division 2 of the Leinster Senior League. The second team are in Division 4. The third team are in Division 11. The second team won division 5 in 2019. Carlisle Cricket Club Ground
Carlisle Cricket Club Ground was a cricket ground in Kimmage, South Dublin, Ireland. The grounds were built by members of the Jewish Community and finally opened in March 1954. Other sports such as Soccer, Rugby, Tennis were played on the grounds. The first recorded senior league match on the ground was in 1970, when Carlisle joined the Senior League status. South Leinster played North West in 1970 there also. July 1990 saw the ground host its first International when Ireland played host to Wales for a 3 Day International Match. The ground also hosted a single Women's One Day International match which saw Ireland women played New Zealand in 1996. Malahide Cricket Club was founded in 1861 and is situated within Malahide Castle demesne, near the railway station. The club has over 400 members and is open all year round. The Leinster Cricket Union, also known as Cricket Leinster, is one of five provincial governing bodies for cricket in Ireland.
