Leinbachs is an unincorporated community in southern Bern Township, Pennsylvania, United States, just northwest of Reading and the Reading Regional Airport. it is also located near Blue Marsh Lake. Leinbachs' proximity to these locations has given it significant growth in recent years. Commercial Growth includes the construction of a suburban development, warehouses, and other enterprises. Recent history Leinbachs was, until the 1950s, a sparsely populated farming community, located just outside Reading. Since the development of the highway system and the construction of Route 183, Leinbachs has experienced steady growth. It currently is home to the Bern Township Police Department, as well as a community center. Though the population's numbers are included in the Bernville census records, a suburban development was built in 2008. Reading Regional Airport (also known as Carl A. Spaatz Field) is a public airport three miles (5 km) northwest of Reading, Pennsylvania, Reading, in Berks County, Pennsylvania, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Blue Marsh Lake
Blue Marsh Lake is an artificial lake located northwest of the city of Reading, Pennsylvania, USA and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District. It is in western Berks County, fed into by the Tulpehocken Creek (Pennsylvania), Tulpehocken Creek. The main span of the lake is along the border between Bern Township, Pennsylvania, Bern and Lower Heidelberg Township, Pennsylvania, Lower Heidelberg Townships. Bernville (Pennsylvania Dutch: ''Bannwill'') is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The population was 955 at the 2010 census. Bernville is bordered by Penn Township to the north, east, and south and by Jefferson Township to the west. History Before European settlers arrived in the Tulpehocken Creek valley, the area was inhabited by the Lenape people. In 1723, thirty-three Palatine families from Schoharie, New York, moved to the confluences of the Tulpehocken and Northkill Creeks. By 1735, a saw and grist mill was located three and a half miles up the Tulpehocken river from Bernville. In 1737, Stephanus Umbenhauer immigrated from Bern, Switzerland, and purchased from Thomas Penn. In 1819, Stephanus' grandson, Johann Thomas Umbenhauer, set aside to be divided into 62 lots.
