Joseph Leidy
Joseph Mellick Leidy (September 9, 1823 – April 30, 1891) was an American paleontologist, parasitologist and anatomist. Leidy was professor of anatomy at the University of Pennsylvania, later was a professor of natural history at Swarthmore College and the director of scientific and educational programs at the Wagner Free Institute of Science. His book ''Extinct Fauna of Dakota and Nebraska'' (1869) contained many species not previously described and many previously unknown on the North American continent. At the time, scientific investigation was largely the province of wealthy amateurs. The Leidy Glacier in northwest Greenland was named by Robert Peary after him. Paul Leidy
Paul Leidy (November 13, 1813 – September 11, 1877) was a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania, serving one term from 1857 to 1859. Biography Paul Leidy was born in Hemlock Township, Pennsylvania, son of John and Sarah (Girton) Leidy. His father died when Paul was in his teens and a guardian, Samuel Brugler, was appointed for him in 1831. He attended the common schools and apprenticed as a tailor at about age 16. He taught school in Danville, Pennsylvania, for several years beginning about 1838 and simultaneously, he studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1837 and commenced practice in Danville. His obituary states that, "He applied himself diligently to his chosen profession and built up a lucrative practice." He served as district attorney of Montour County, Pennsylvania from 1852 to 1857. Leidy Asprilla
Leidy Johanna Asprilla Solís (18 April 1997 – 19 May 2019) was a Colombian footballer who played as a forward. She played for the women's team of Orsomarso and also represented Colombia at the under-20 level, earning several caps. Aspirlla was reported missing on 19 May 2019 while on her way to a training session in Palmira. Her body was found several days later on a nearby highway near her motorcycle. Local police announced that she had died in a traffic accident, rather than a kidnapping or murder as previously assumed. International career Aspirlla represented Colombia at several youth tournaments, including the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. At the 2013 South American U-17 Women's Championship, she scored the lone goal against Brazil in a group stage match. Leidy Churchman
Leidy Churchman (born 1979 in Villanova, PA) is an American painter who lives and works in New York. Early life and education Churchman received their M.F.A. from Columbia University in 2010 and B.A. from Hampshire College, Amherst, Massachusetts, in 2002. From 2011–12, they were a resident artist at Rijksakademie van Beeldende in Amsterdam. The artist's work has been reviewed in the ''New York Times'' and ''Artforum''. Career Churchman first presented their work publicly in 2002 through queer feminist journal and art collective LTTR, which also included artists K8 Hardy, Every Ocean Hughs (then Emily Roysdon), and Ginger Brooks. Leidy Klotz (born July 14, 1978) is an American scientist and author who studies and writes about design and problem-solving. He is a professor of engineering and architecture at the University of Virginia. Klotz has published in scientific journals including ''Nature'' and ''Science'' and in other publications such as ''The Washington Post'', ''Harvard Business Review'', ''Fast Company'', and ''The Globe and Mail''. He is also the author of two popular books: ''Subtract: The Untapped Science of Less'' (2021), which discusses design and problem-solving, and ''Sustainability through Soccer'' (2016), a work about systems thinking. Klotz is a retired United Soccer League soccer player.
