''Lei'd in Hawaii'' is an unfinished live album by American rock band the Beach Boys that was produced shortly after the completion of their 1967 studio album ''Smiley Smile''. It was initially planned to include the band's first live concert performances since their tour of Europe in May 1967. The two concerts, held at the Honolulu International Center Arena on August 25 and 26, featured a rare appearance from Brian Wilson, marking his only shows with the touring group between 1965 and 1970. It was also the band's first public appearance following their controversial withdrawal from the Monterey Pop Festival that summer. The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys are an American Rock music, rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian Wilson, Brian, Dennis Wilson, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. ''Beach Boys Concert'' is the first live album by American rock band the Beach Boys, released on October 19, 1964. It is their seventh album in all, and their third alone in the same year. It was their first of two chart-topping albums in the US (the other was their 1974 greatest hit compilation, '' Endless Summer''), as well as the first live album to top pop music record charts, maintaining its position for four weeks during a sixty-two-week chart stay, and becoming another gold seller. The album was recorded live at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, California, though it received heavy post-production treatment. Domenic Priore (born January 15th 1960) is an American author, historian and television producer whose focus is on popular music and its attendant youth culture. ''Record Mirror'' was a British weekly music newspaper between 1954 and 1991 for pop fans and record collectors. Launched two years after the ''NME'', it never attained the circulation of its rival. Derek Taylor
Derek Taylor (7 May 1932 – 8 September 1997) was an English journalist, writer, publicist and record producer. He is best known for his role as press officer to the Beatles, with whom he worked in 1964 and then from 1968 to 1970, and was one of several associates to earn the moniker " the Fifth Beatle". Before returning to London to head the publicity for the Beatles' Apple Corps organisation in 1968, he worked as the publicist for California-based bands such as the Byrds, the Beach Boys and the Mamas and the Papas. ''Smile'' (stylized as ''SMiLE'') is an unfinished album by the American rock band the Beach Boys that was planned to follow their 11th studio album ''Pet Sounds'' (1966). It was to be a 12-track LP that drew from over 50 hours of interchangeable sound fragments, similar to the group's 1966 single "Good Vibrations". Instead, after a year of recording, the album was shelved and the group released a downscaled version, ''Smiley Smile'', in September 1967.
