Lehman Township is a township in Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,843 at the 2020 census. History The Brodhead Farm, Nyce Farm, Peters House, and Turn Store and the Tinsmith's Shop are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Communities Lehman Township is home to several communities. The unincorporated community of Bushkill was a well-known small town in the region but has since fallen on hard times. Lehman Township is also home to Pine Ridge, Pocono Mountain Lake Estates, Pocono Ranchlands and Saw Creek, four private communities. These private communities provide community and recreational services to residents. While these communities were initially mostly composed of vacation homes, many people have since moved there full-time including retirees and former vacationers. Richard Brodhead
Richard Brodhead (January 5, 1811September 16, 1863) was an American lawyer and politician from Easton, Pennsylvania. He represented Pennsylvania in both the U.S. House (1843 to 1849) and Senate (1851 to 1857). He was the father of U.S. Representative Jefferson Davis Brodhead, who also represented Pennsylvania. Biography Richard Brodhead was born in Lehman Township, Pennsylvania, the son of Hannah (Drake) and Richard Brodhead, Sr. Brodhead moved to Easton, Pennsylvania in 1830. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1836 and commenced practice in Easton. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives from 1837 to 1839. He was appointed treasurer of Northampton County, Pennsylvania in 1841. His wife was Mary Jane Davis Bradford, a niece of Jefferson Davis of Mississippi. WVPO (96.7 MHz) is an FM radio station in Lehman Township, Pennsylvania known as "Bigfoot Country 96.7 & 97.3". The station is owned by Seven Mountains Media, programming a country music format. History This station began operation on October 23, 1970, as WDLC-FM. The station ran a country music format initially. Their AM station played a Middle Of The Road (MOR) music format playing songs from the 1940s up to and including current songs. The stations WDLC 1490 and 96.7 WDLC-FM were owned by Oscar Wein and family. His son Bob Wein along with the rest of the family were active with the station. By the mid 1970s, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) relaxed simulcast restrictions between AM and FM radio stations.
