Lehman Township is a township in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The township is part of the Back Mountain (a 118 square mile region in northern Luzerne County). The campus of Penn State Wilkes-Barre is located at the Hayfield Farms on Old Route 115 in Lehman Township. The township population was 3,342 at the 2020 census. History Native American raids On March 28, 1780, John Rogers and Asa Upson were producing sugar a short distance above the mouth of Hunlock Creek, when they were suddenly surrounded and captured by Native Americans. Upson was killed and Rogers was carried off. The attackers then proceeded to where Abram Pike was making sugar (near the modern-day Village of Pikes Creek); they captured Pike and his wife. Harveys Creek
Harveys Creek (also known as Harvey Creek or Harvey's Creek) is a tributary of the Susquehanna River in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is approximately long and flows through Harveys Lake, Lake Township, Lehman Township, Jackson Township, and Plymouth Township. The creek's watershed has an area of . The creek has four named tributaries, which are known as Bear Hollow Creek, Paint Spring Run, Pikes Creek, and East Fork Harveys Creek. The watershed is designated as a High-Quality Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery above Pikes Creek and as a Coldwater Fishery and a Migratory Fishery below it. Lake Township is a township in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Back Mountain, a 118 square mile region in northern Luzerne County. The population was 1,994 at the 2020 census. History The first white man who lived in modern-day Lake Township was Matthew Scouten (in the 1790s). ''Hollenback & Urquhart'' would later own much of the territory. They were responsible for building the first sawmill in 1839 and the first gristmill in 1840. Every mill belonging to ''Hollenback & Urquhart'' was later transferred over to the ''Hoffman Lumber Company''. At the time, due to the abundance of trees, the lumber industry was one of the major employers in the region. Lake Township was formed in 1841 from territory taken from Lehman and Monroe Townships. Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania
Harveys Lake is a borough in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Back Mountain, a one hundred and eighteen-square mile region in northern Luzerne County. The borough is named after the lake, its principal feature, which in turn was named after Benjamin Harvey, a local settler. Harvey was a member of the Sons of Liberty, an eminent colonial-era group that fought against Great Britain's Stamp Act of 1765. Pennsylvania Route 415
Pennsylvania Route 415 (PA 415, designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as SR 0415) is a state highway located in Luzerne and Wyoming counties in Pennsylvania. The southern terminus is at PA 309 in Dallas while the northern terminus is at PA 29 near Harveys Lake in the community of Ruggles. A rare feature of this road is that the right-of-way splits in Harveys Lake, where the State Route 0415 (SR 0415) alignment heads along the western side of Harveys Lake, while SR 1415 heads along the eastern side. The two routes merge several miles north. Originally, PA 415 was designated from PA 92 (now PA 309) in Dallas along its current alignment until the current PA 29 intersection, where it turned southward to an intersection with PA 115 in the community of Kyttles, where the designation terminated. Pennsylvania Route 118 (PA 118) is a state route located in northeastern Pennsylvania. The western terminus of the route is at PA 405 in Hughesville. The eastern terminus is at PA 415 in Dallas. The road is known briefly as East Water Street from its western terminus to its intersection with 6th Street in Hughesville, where it becomes Lairdsville Road for until crossing PA 42 near Unityville. It joins PA 487 for one mile (1.6 km) in Red Rock, where it passes through the southern part of Ricketts Glen State Park. In 1928, the road between Hughesville and Unityville was designated as part of PA 642 while the portion between Red Rock and Lehman was designated as a portion of PA 115. Pennsylvania Route 29 (PA 29) is a north–south state highway that runs through most of eastern Pennsylvania. The route currently exists in two segments, a southern segment and a northern segment. The southern segment runs from U.S. Route 30 (US 30) near Malvern north to Interstate 78 (I-78)/ PA 309 near Allentown. The northern segment runs from I-81 in Ashley north to the New York state line near Brookdale, Pennsylvania, where the road becomes New York State Route 7 (NY 7).
