Legnano Calcio
Associazione Calcio Dilettantistica Legnano, commonly referred to as Legnano, is an Italian football club based in Legnano, Lombardy. Founded in 1913, Legnano played three seasons in Serie A and a total of eleven seasons in the top tier of the Italian football league system. Legnano's most recent appearance in Serie A dates back to 1954, whereas in 1957 the club took part for the last time – to date – in a Serie B championship (the second tier of Italian football). Since then the club have played at their highest at the third tier of the Italian league. The team's colours are lilac and white. After financial struggles and bankruptcy in 2010 the club folded and reformed in 2011 as ASD Legnano Calcio 1913; in 2015 they regained the right to name themselves ACD Legnano Calcio and to merge their history with the one of the 97-year-old club previously folded. ''Società a responsabilità limitata'' (S.r.l. or srl) is a kind of legal corporate entity in Italy, which literally means (but is not entirely equal to) limited liability company. It has a similar form to ''società sportiva dilettantistica a responsabilità limitata'' (S.s.d a r.l.) for amateur sports-related companies and their corresponding regulations: article 90 of the Italian Law №289 of 2002. Chedric Seedorf
Chedric Seedorf (born 20 April 1983 in Naarden) is a former Dutch footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Like his brothers Clarence and Jürgen and his cousin Stefano he is the product of the Ajax youth academy, but in 1999 his father and player agent Johan Seedorf forced a breach with the club due to irreconcilable differences with then technical director Hans Westerhof. Chedric was admitted to the cantera of Real Madrid, but when Clarence left Madrid for Inter Milan in 2000, Jurgen (briefly) and Chedric went with him. Realizing that it would be difficult to break through into the senior squad of Inter, Jurgen (De Graafschap) and a little later Chedric would soon opt for a move back to the Netherlands with Eredivisie side NAC Breda. Davide Fontolan
Davide Fontolan (born 24 February 1966) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder, usually as a left winger. Club career Fontolan was born in Garbagnate Milanese, Province of Milan. He started his playing career with Serie C side Legnano, and moved to Parma in 1986 after four seasons with the ''lilla''. In 1987, he played for Udinese, and from 1988 to 1990 he was part of the Genoa squad. This was followed by six seasons with Inter Milan, with 127 caps and 11 goals for the ''nerazzurri'', where he won a UEFA Cup in 1994. He then left Inter in 1996 to join Bologna, where he played four seasons. He retired in 2001 after a season with Cagliari. Paolo Pulici
Paolo Pulici (; born 27 April 1950) is an Italian football manager and former footballer who played as a striker. With 172 goals in all competitions, he is the all-time record goalscorer for Torino. He had several nicknames: amongst the most famous were ''Pupi'' and the one created for him by the journalist Gianni Brera, ''Puliciclone'' (a pun on his family name, ''Pulici'', and ''Ciclone'', Italian for "cyclone"). Plus, he shared with his teammate Francesco Graziani the collective nickname ''I gemelli del gol'' (Italian for "The Twins of Goal"). Karl-Erik Palmér
Karl-Erik "Calle" Palmér (17 April 1929 – 2 February 2015) was a Swedish professional football player who played as a midfielder. He represented Malmö FF, Legnano, and Juventus during a club career that spanned between 1948 and 1960. A full international between 1949 and 1952, he won 14 caps and scored ten goals for the Sweden national team. He scored three goals in five games as Sweden finished third at the 1950 FIFA World Cup. Pedro Kamata
Pedro Kamata (born 6 September 1981) is a Congolese former professional footballer who played as a winger. Born in Angola, he made one appearance for the DR Congo national team. Club career Kamata was born in Luanda, Angola. He started his career at Auxerre. He then joined FC Groningen in the summer of 2002, only to return to Ligue 2 in order to join Clermont Foot in January 2003. He then kept playing in Ligue 2 until he was signed by Legnano of Serie C2 in 2005. He helped the club to win promotion to Serie C1 in the summer of 2007. Nicholas Frey
Nicolas Sébastien Frey (born 6 March 1984) is a French former professional footballer who played as a right back. Club career Born in Thonon-les-Bains, Haute-Savoie, Frey played exclusively at amateur level in his country, joining AS Cannes' youth system at the age of 10 and spending two seasons with its reserves as a senior. In 2004, aged 20, he moved to Italy with A.C. Legnano, in Serie C. Gigi Riva
Luigi "Gigi" Riva (; born 7 November 1944) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a centre-forward. Considered to be one of the best players of his generation, as well as one of the greatest strikers of all time, Riva enjoyed a remarkable scoring record for Cagliari, thanks to his composure in front of goal, powerful left foot and aerial ability; his speed, strength and eye for goal led the Italian journalist Gianni Brera to nickname him "Rombo di Tuono" (Roar of Thunder). Attilio Demaría
Atilio José Demaría (; 19 March 1909 – 11 November 1990), Italianized as Attilio Demaria (), was an Italian Argentine footballer, who played as a striker. He played club football in Argentina and Italy. At international level, he represented Argentina in the 1930 World Cup and Italy in the 1934 World Cup, reaching the finals of both tournaments and winning the latter edition of the competition. Eccellenza
The Eccellenza (, "excellence") is the fifth level (since 2014–15) of Italian football. It is a regional league, composed of 28 divisions divided geographically. All 20 regions are represented by at least one division except for Piedmont and Aosta Valley which share 2 divisions. Veneto, Tuscany, Sicily, Emilia-Romagna and Campania also have 2 divisions each, while the regions of Lombardy and Lazio have 3 divisions. Promotion and relegation After the regular season is completed, the first-placed team for each division is automatically promoted to Serie D. Each division also admits one other team to participate in national playoffs that take place in late May and early June. Promozione
The Promozione (, "promotion") is the sixth level in the Italian football league system. Each individual league winner within the Promozione level progresses to their closest regional league in the Eccellenza level. Depending on each league's local rules, a number of teams each year are relegated from each league, to the 7th level of Italian football, the Prima Categoria. This level of Italian football is completely amateur and is run on a regional level. History in brief In the past, from 1904 to 1912, the Seconda Categoria had been the second level of Italian local regional tournaments in which main teams used to field apprentices and reserves.
