''Legends'' is the fifth studio album by American hip hop group Above the Law. It was released in 1998 via Tommy Boy Records. The record peaked at number 27 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and number 142 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Audio production of the entire album was handled by Cold 187um with co-production by KM.G and K-oss. The sixteen track record featured guest appearances from Ha-Ha L.O.C. of Pomona City Rydaz, Yukmouth, Jayo Felony, Young Ten, Madd Harv Dogg, and Big Rocc. Above The Law (group)
Above the Law was an American hip hop group from Pomona, California, founded in 1989 by Cold 187um, KMG the Illustrator, Go Mack, and DJ Total K-Oss. Biography In 1989, the group signed with Eazy-E's Ruthless Records, while there, the group became an additional influence in pioneering with the group, N.W.A. Their first album on Ruthless, 1990's ''Livin' Like Hustlers'', featured a guest appearance from N.W.A and production from Dr. Dre. Above the Law member Cold187um worked closely with Dre on production and the two had great influence on each other. The songs "Untouchable" and "Murder Rap" became minor hits from the album. "Murder Rap" appeared in the 2008 film '' Pineapple Express''. The song "Freedom of Speech" appeared in the 1990 movie '' Pump Up the Volume'' and was also featured on the movie Pump Up the Volume (soundtrack), soundtrack album. Cold 187um
Gregory Fernard Hutchison (born August 4, 1967), known as Big Hutch and Cold 187um, is an American rapper and producer, and leader of the rap group Above the Law. He currently records for his self-founded label. Biography Hutchison is the nephew of late R&B singer Willie Hutch. Above the Law signed to Ruthless Records in late 1989, releasing their debut album, '' Livin' Like Hustlers'', in 1990. The album was overseen and co-produced by producer Dr. Dre, who would soon leave the label and start up Death Row Records, and featured members of the group N.W.A. Cold 187um contributed to the success of Ruthless after Dre's departure and the breakup of N.W.A. During his tenure on the label he produced for Eazy-E's '' 5150: Home 4 tha Sick'' and '' It's On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa'', MC Ren's ''The Villain in Black'' among other projects. Jerold Dwight Ellis III (born October 18, 1974), better known by his stage name Yukmouth, is an American rapper from East Oakland, Oakland, California. He is the founder of The Regime, Smoke-A-Lot Records and Godzilla Entertainment. He is a member of Thug Lordz with C-Bo. Career Yukmouth is a member of the rap duo Luniz, along with Numskull. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan.
