''Legacy'' is a 2004 album by The Temptations for the Motown label, introducing new Temptations G.C. Cameron and Joe Herndon. The album was the group's final release on Motown; they left the label shortly after its release. "Somethin' Special" was a Top 40 hit on the Urban Adult Contemporary Charts peaking at #25. The Temptations
The Temptations are an American vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, who released a series of successful singles and albums with Motown Records during the 1960s and 1970s. The group's work with producer Norman Whitfield, beginning with the Top 10 hit single " Cloud Nine" in October 1968, pioneered psychedelic soul, and was significant in the evolution of R&B and soul music. The band members are known for their choreography, distinct harmonies, and dress style. Having sold tens of millions of albums, the Temptations are among the most successful groups in popular music. Contemporary R&B
Contemporary R&B (or simply R&B) is a popular music genre that combines rhythm and blues with elements of pop, soul, funk, hip hop, and electronic music. The genre features a distinctive record production style, drum machine-backed rhythms, pitch corrected vocals, and a smooth, lush style of vocal arrangement. Electronic influences are becoming an increasing trend and the use of hip hop or dance-inspired beats are typical, although the roughness and grit inherent in hip hop may be reduced and smoothed out. Motown Records is an American record label owned by the Universal Music Group. It was founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records on June 7, 1958, and incorporated as Motown Record Corporation on April 14, 1960. Awesome (The Temptations Album)
''Awesome'' is a 2001 album by the Tempations. Despite many changes in personnel, the album became the 45th to reach the ''Billboard'' 200, the first being ''Meet the Temptations'' in 1964. The lone single "4 Days" peaked at #19 on the Urban Adult Contemporary Charts. It is the last album to featured Barrington “Bo” Henderson and Harry McGilberry before they were fired from the group in 2003. Reception According to Jason Birchmeier of AllMusic, ''Awesome'' contains "mostly ballads here and some innocent concessions to the hip-hop audience." The sound is similar to the group's surprisingly successful predecessor, '' Ear-Resistible'', although "less rewarding", but it is still "the Temptations sounding like the Temptations." Joe Herndon
Walter Gregory "Joe" Herndon (born January 5, 1949) is an American R&B and soul singer, former bass singer of a version of doo-wop group The Spaniels and former bass singer for The Temptations (2003–15). Biography Herndon was born in Washington, D.C. and began his career joining the D.C.-based version of The Spaniels in the 1970s. He would remain singing with this version of the group until the late-1990s when he joined forces with former Temptations singer Glenn Leonard to form the splinter group ''The Temptations Experience''. Upon the dismissal of Temptations bass singer Harry McGilberry in late 2003, Herndon was asked to replace McGilberry as a featured member of the legendary Motown quintet by Otis Williams.
