''Left of the Middle'' is the debut studio album by Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia, released on 24 November 1997 by RCA Records. It is primarily an alternative pop album. Spurred by the success of lead single " Torn", the album reached number one in Imbruglia's home country and top 10 in both the UK and US. The album went on to secure Imbruglia an ARIA for Best Pop Release and three Grammy nominations, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the single "Torn", and Best New Artist. Natalie Jane Imbruglia ( , ; born 4 February 1975) is an Australian singer and actress. In the early 1990s, she played Beth Brennan in the Australian soap opera '' Neighbours''. ''Stigmata'' is a 1999 supernatural horror film directed by Rupert Wainwright and distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was written by Tom Lazarus and Rick Ramage. Its story follows an atheist hairdresser from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who is afflicted with stigmata after acquiring a rosary formerly owned by a deceased Italian priest who himself had suffered from the phenomenon. "Identify" is a song written by Billy Corgan and Mike Garson and performed by Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia for the soundtrack to the film ''Stigmata (film), Stigmata''. In North America, the track was serviced to radio as the featured single from the soundtrack on 23 and 24 August 1999. The Grammy Award for Best New Artist has been awarded since 1959. Years reflect the year in which the Grammy Awards were handed out, for records released in the previous year. The award was not presented in 1967. The official guidelines are as follows: "For a new artist who releases, during the Eligibility Year, the first recording which establishes the public identity of that artist." Note that this is not necessarily the first album released by an artist; for example, Shelby Lynne won the award in 2001 after having already released six albums over 13 years.
