Lee Odelein
Lee Odelein (March 4, 1967 – c. February 1, 2017) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman. Career Odelein started his career with the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League, playing 33 games between 1989 and 1991. He later joined the Flint Bulldogs of the Colonial Hockey League in 1991. Odelein later joined the Bracknell Bees of the British Hockey League. Stick-swinging incident As a member of the Bees, Odelein was involved in an incident that resulted in a broken jaw and a concussion by Murrayfield Racers defenseman Roger Hunt after Odelein hit Racers' forward Kyle McDonough over the head with a stick. Both Odelein and McDonough ended up going to the hospital in the same ambulance. As a result of the incident, Hunt was suspended from the British Hockey League for over three years, eventually returning to the league midway through the 1995-96 season with the Murrayfield Royals. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three Forward (ice hockey), forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Kyle McDonough
Kyle McDonough is an American ice hockey coach and former center who was an All-American for Vermont. Career McDonough was star for Vermont for four seasons in the later half of the 1980's. Despite low totals, he led the Catamounts in scoring as a freshman, helping the team post its first winning season in six years. He continued to lead the offense for most of his career and helped Vermont make its first NCAA tournament appearance in 1988. His production increased in his senior season and he was named an All-American. Vermont reached its first ECAC championship game but lost to St. Lawrence. After graduating, McDonough headed to Europe to begin is professional career. He had nearly the same production in the Metal Ligaen as he had in college but couldn't help Aalborg finish better than 7th in the league. Bracknell () is a large town and civil parish in Berkshire, England, the westernmost area within the Greater London Urban Area and the administrative centre of the Borough of Bracknell Forest. Selmar Odelein
Selmar Odelein (born April 11, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 18 games in the National Hockey League. Playing career Odelein started his career with the Regina Pats in the Western Hockey League and was the first round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, 21st overall. He attended Luther College high school in Regina, Saskatchewan. Odelein scored 0 goals and 2 assists in 18 games over three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers and also played with the Oilers' affiliates before spending a season with Team Canada. He spent two years in Austria playing for Innsbrucker EV and Feldkirch VEU before moving to the British Hockey League. He played a season each for the Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers before injury forced him to retire. Lyle Odelein
Lyle Theodore Odelein (born July 21, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played for eight National Hockey League (NHL) teams in 16 seasons, and was the inaugural captain of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Playing career Odelein played junior hockey for the Moose Jaw Warriors before being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the seventh round (141st overall) in 1986. His playing style adapted through his career; primarily used as a defensive defenceman early in his career (as well as an enforcer), but became more of a two-way threat when former Montreal Canadiens coach Jacques Demers used him on the power play. His first NHL goal was a highlight-reel end-to-end rush against Chicago Blackhawks goalie Ed Belfour on December 19, 1991. Odelein won the Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
