Lee McCoy
Lee McCoy (born February 5, 1994) is an American professional golfer. He played his college golf at the University of Georgia and currently plays professionally on the Korn Ferry Tour. He previously played on the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada. Amateur career McCoy was born in Dunedin, Florida, to Terry and Cheryl McCoy. He started playing golf when he was about 18 months old and grew up in a subdivision of Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club. For his final year of high school, McCoy moved to Georgia, where he won the 2012 Class 4A state championship and was named Georgia's player of the year. McCoy played college golf at the University of Georgia; as a junior he was named a first-team All-American and was a member of the U.S. 2015 Walker Cup and Palmer Cup teams. Dunedin is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The name comes from ''Dùn Èideann'', the Scottish Gaelic name for Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Aruba Cup
The Aruba Cup was an annual team golf competition between teams representing PGA Tour Latinoamérica and PGA Tour Canada. It was founded in 2016 and took place in December. The 2016 and 2017 events were held at the Tierra del Sol Resort, Spa & Country Club near Noord, Aruba. In 2018 the event was played at Cozumel Country Club on the island of Cozumel in the Caribbean Sea off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula and was called the Cozumel Cup. Format The teams consisted of 10 golfers from each tour. The tournament was played over three days with 5 fourball matches on the first day, 5 foursomes on the second day and 10 singles matches on the final day. Walker Cup
The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested in odd-numbered years by leading male amateur golfers in two teams: United States, and Great Britain and Ireland. The official name is the Walker Cup Match (not "Matches" as in Ryder Cup Matches). It is organised by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). In 1921 the Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted an unofficial contest which was followed by official annual contests from 1922 through 1924. From 1925 they became biennial, held on even-number years. After World War II they switched to odd-numbered years. They are held alternately in the U.S., and Ireland or Britain. The cup is named after George Herbert Walker who was president of the USGA in 1920 when the match was initiated. Walker is the grandfather and namesake of George H. W. 2015 Palmer Cup
The 2015 Palmer Cup was held on June 12–14, 2015 at Rich Harvest Farms in Big Rock Township, Illinois. The United States won 18 to 12. Format On Friday, there were five matches of foursomes in the morning, followed by five four-ball matches in the afternoon. Ten singles matches were played on Saturday, and ten more on Sunday. In all, 30 matches were played. Each of the 30 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole, each side earned half a point toward their team total. The team that accumulated at least 15½ points won the competition. Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers. From 2018 it has been contested between a United States team and an International team representing the rest of the world. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women. The teams are selected on the basis of nationality, not according to the location of the players' universities. The 2023 event will be held from June 10 to 12 at Laurel Valley Golf Club, near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. History From its foundation in 1997 until 2017 the event was only contested by men. From 1997 until 2002 the United States played Great Britain & Ireland while from 2003 to 2017 the United States played a European team. Jordan Niebrugge (born August 4, 1993) is an American professional golfer. Early life Niebrugge was born just outside St. Louis in Bridgeton, Missouri. When he was at a young age, his parents, Rod and Judy Niebrugge, moved with Jordan and his older sister Alyssa to Mequon, Wisconsin. Amateur career Niebrugge attended Oklahoma State University–Stillwater from 2012 to 2016, where he achieved honorable mention All-American honors all four years. Qualifying School
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage.
