Lee Li Lian
Lee Li Lian (; born 19 July 1978) is a Singaporean politician. A member of the opposition Workers' Party (WP), she was the Member of Parliament for Punggol East SMC between 2013 and 2015. Lee made her political debut in the 2011 general election where she contested in Punggol East SMC but lost. She later served as the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Punggol East SMC between 2013 and 2015 after winning the 2013 by-election but lost her seat to Charles Chong in the 2015 general election by a narrow margin. 1984 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 22 December 1984. President of Singapore, President Devan Nair dissolved parliament on 4 December 1984 on the advice of Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. 1981 Anson By-election
The 1981 Anson by-election was held on 31 October 1981 with J. B. Jeyaretnam from the Worker's Party as the winning candidate. This followed the incumbent MP Devan Nair stepping down in order to become President of Singapore. The by-election marked the first occasion since Singapore's independence in which a PAP candidate was defeated in an election for a seat in Parliament. The 37% swing against the PAP is the largest ever swing in a by-election in independent Singapore, and the second largest since 1961. Kenneth Jeyaretnam
Kenneth Andrew Jeyaretnam (born 1959) is a Singaporean politician and hedge fund manager who has been serving as the secretary-general of the opposition Reform Party since 2009. He is the elder son of J. B. Jeyaretnam, a prominent opposition politician in Singapore who founded the Reform Party in 2008. A Cambridge graduate with a double first class honours degree in economics, Jeyaretnam started his career in the financial sector and has worked at Wardley, Continental Bank, Banque Indosuez and Nomura International before becoming a hedge fund manager. The Reform Party (abbreviation: RP) is a political party in Singapore. The Reform Party is a liberal- democratic party. Koh Poh Koon ( zh, s=许宝琨, p=Xú Bǎokūn; born 1972) is a Singaporean politician and former colorectal surgeon who has been serving as Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment since 2022 and Senior Minister of State for Manpower since 2021. Low Thia Khiang (; born 5 September 1956) is a Singaporean former politician who served as Secretary-General of the Workers' Party (WP) between 2001 and 2018. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hougang SMC between 1991 and 2011 and Aljunied GRC between 2011 and 2020. He was one of the two opposition MPs in Parliament. Desmond Lim Bak Chuan ( zh, s=林睦荃, p=Lín Mùquán; born 1967) is a Singaporean politician. He was formerly the president of the opposition Singapore Justice Party (SJP), which joined forces with three other opposition parties ( SPP, NSP and PKMS) to form the Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) in 2001. The speaker of the Parliament of Singapore is the presiding officer of the Parliament of Singapore. The speaker is nominated by the prime minister before being appointed by the Parliament.
