Lee Kwang-mo
Lee Kwang-mo (born 28 January 1961) is a South Korean executive producer and film director. He is best known for his first feature ''Spring in My Hometown'' (1998) which won numerous awards. Early life On January 28, 1961, Lee was born in South Korea. Career Lee majored in English at the Korea University and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in film and television studies in 1988. He has written many shorts and feature screenplays, and lectures at universities and film schools. He wrote and directed his first feature ''Spring in My Hometown'' (1998) which took 13 years to make. He wrote the screenplay in memory of his father who died while he was studying in the U.S. The script won the first prize in the 1995 Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Competition. The film won numerous awards and was the most critically acclaimed film of the year. It also topped most of the film critics' lists of the year's best features. Filmography *''Spring in ... The Grand Bell Awards retains prestige as the oldest continuous film awards held in South Korea, and has been called the Korean equivalent of the American Academy Awards. The Korean Film Council (KOFIC) () is a state-supported, self-administered organization under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea. History KOFIC was launched in 1973 as the Korean Motion Picture Promotion Corporation (KMPPC). It changed its name to Korean Film Commission in 1999, to be set up as a self-regulating body that could institute film policy without requiring the ratification of the Ministry of Culture. It changed its name once more to Korean Film Council in 2004 to avoid confusion with local film commissions that provide support for location shooting. The Baeksang Arts Awards (), also known as the Paeksang Arts Awards, are awards for excellence in film, television and theatre in South Korea. The awards were first introduced in 1965 by Chang Key-young, the founder of the Hankook Ilbo newspaper, whose pen name was "Baeksang". Fribourg International Film Festival
The Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) is an annual film festival in Fribourg, Switzerland. It is focused on selected films from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Grand Prize is the main award of the Fribourg International Film Festival. The International Film Festival of Kerala (abbreviated as IFFK) is a film festival held annually in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, India. Pusan International Film Festival
The Busan International Film Festival (BIFF, previously Pusan International Film Festival, PIFF), held annually in Haeundae-gu, Busan (''also'' Pusan), South Korea, is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. The first festival, held from 13 to 21 September 1996, was also the first international film festival in Korea. The main focus of the BIFF is to introduce new films and first-time directors, especially those from Asian countries.
