Lee Hsi-ming
Lee Hsi-ming (), also known as Lee Hsi-min, is an admiral of the Republic of China (Taiwan), now currently serves as the senior research fellow of the Project 2049 Institute at Washington, D.C. His major assignments includes the Chief of the General Staff (since 2017), Vice Minister (Policy) of National Defense (from 2016 to 2017), and Commander of the Republic of China Navy (ROCN, from 2015 to 2016). In June 2019, Lee was awarded the Order of the Cloud and Banner with Special Grand Cordon. He retired on 1 July 2019. The Republic of China Naval Academy (CNA; ) is the service academy for the navy of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and is located at Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. History The academy was originally established as the Chinese Naval Academy at the Gaochang Temple in Shanghai on 16 June 1946. On 1 April 1947, the academy was moved to Tsingtao, Shantung. Order Of The Cloud And Banner
The Order of the Cloud and Banner () also known as the Order of the Resplendent Banner is a military award of the Republic of China. It was instituted on June 15, 1935 and is awarded in nine grades for contributions to national security. The insignia of the order features a fluttering yellow flag, surrounded by white clouds on a blue field. This image is surrounded by golden rays. Project 2049 Institute
The Project 2049 Institute is a think tank in Arlington, Virginia focusing on United States foreign policy in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly as it relates to China and Taiwan. The institute was founded in 2008 by former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Randall Schriver and former US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Mark Stokes. Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage served as chairman until January 2020. The institute is strongly supportive of Taiwan, and has called for full normalization of relations between the United States and Taiwan. Third Taiwan Strait Crisis
The Third Taiwan Strait Crisis, also called the 1995–1996 Taiwan Strait Crisis or the 1996 Taiwan Strait Crisis, was the effect of a series of missile tests conducted by the People's Republic of China (PRC) in the waters surrounding Taiwan, including the Taiwan Strait from 21 July 1995 to 23 March 1996.
