Lee Hartman
Leland "Lee" Hartman (February 27, 1930 – December 24, 2012) was an American animator and writer. Hartman graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Hartman was employed as an animator for the Walt Disney Company from 1955 to 1960. His credits at Disney included animated pieces for ''The Mickey Mouse Club''; the 1958 short film, ''Paul Bunyan'', which was directed by Les Clark (a member of Disney's Nine Old Men); and the animated feature film, ''Sleeping Beauty'', which was released in 1959. Hartman worked for Warner Bros. Animation during the 1990s. His animation for Warner Bros. included ''Tiny Toon Adventures''. Hartman began writing, in addition to animation, during the 1960s. In 1997, he published a series of short horror stories called "The Darkendown Tales." He also ventured into acting, appearing as a reporter in the 1968 horror film, ''Night of the Living Dead'' and as the voice of the Reporter in ''Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated''. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh was a private college in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shortly before closing in 2019, it was purchased by Dream Center Education Holdings (in turn a division of The Dream Center, a Christian non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in Los Angeles, California, established in 1994) It was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and emphasized design education and career preparation for the creative job market. It was founded in 1921 and closed in 2019. Ai-Pittsburgh was part of the system of Art Institutes which includes Ai-Online. The school shut its doors in March 2019 after being placed into federal receivership. At the time of its closure, Ai-Pittsburgh was facing removal of its accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) due to concerns over the executive leadership. ToonSeum: Pittsburgh Museum of Cartoon Art is a museum devoted exclusively to the cartoon arts, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. ToonSeum is one of three museums dedicated to cartoon art in the United States. ToonSeum moved to its own gallery space on Liberty Avenue in Pittsburgh's downtown Cultural District on November 8, 2009, aided by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. It is currently led by John Kelly. In 2009, the ToonSeum established its NEMO Award, given to notable individuals "for excellence in the cartoon arts".
