The Lee County School District—commonly called Lee County Schools— is the public school district for Lee County, Alabama, United States, excluding the parts of the county in the Auburn, Opelika, and Phenix City city limits. Students in the Lee County Schools attend schools in one of four attendance areas: Beauregard, Beulah, Loachapoka, and Smiths Station. Smiths Station, Alabama
Smiths Station is a city in Lee County, Alabama. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area, Georgia. At the time of the 2000 census, it was still a census-designated place (CDP), and its population was 6,756. The area that incorporated as Smiths Station in 2001 was much smaller than the CDP, and contained a population of 4,926 by the 2010 census. Smiths Station, known to locals as "Smiths", is a bedroom community of Columbus, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama. Smiths Station High School
Smiths Station High School is a high school in Smiths Station, Alabama, enrolling grades 9 to 12. The school enrolls over 1,382 students, and is one of four high schools in the Lee County School District along with Beauregard, Beulah, and Loachapoka High Schools. History Smiths Station High School was formed in 1918 with the consolidation of rural one-room schools in the Smiths Station, Motts, and Oak Grove communities. Smiths Station High was the first full rural high school in the Lee County Schools, prior to its creation, all students wishing to complete high school had to travel to Auburn to attend Auburn High School. Loachapoka, Alabama
Loachapoka () is a town in Lee County, Alabama, United States. It is located less than 1/2 mile west of Auburn and approximately west of Auburn University, in west-central Lee County. The population was 180 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Auburn metropolitan area. The name "Loachapoka" means "turtle killing place" in Muskogee, with ''locha'' meaning "turtle" and ''poga'' meaning "killing place." In literature, Lochapoka was the destination of the colonists in James H. Street's 1940 novel ''Oh, Promised Land''. Loachapoka is the location of the first Rosenwald School. Beulah is an unincorporated community in the northeast corner of Lee County, Alabama, United States, just south of Valley. It is part of the Columbus, Georgia-Alabama Metropolitan Area. It is bounded by Chambers County on the north, the Chattahoochee River on the east, and the Halawaka Embayment of Lake Harding on the south.
