Lebesby ( sme, Davvesiida) is a village in Lebesby Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on the shore of the Laksefjorden, along Norwegian County Road 888. The population was 85 in 2015. Finnmark
Finnmark (; se, Finnmárku ; fkv, Finmarku; fi, Ruija ; russian: Финнмарк) was a county in the northern part of Norway, and it is scheduled to become a county again in 2024. On 1 January 2020, Finnmark was merged with the neighbouring county of Troms to form the new Troms og Finnmark county. On 1 January 2024, the county will be demerged back to the counties Finnmark and Troms, after a decision made by parliament on 15 June 2022. By land, it bordered Troms county to the west, Finland ( Lapland region) to the south, and Russia (Murmansk Oblast) to the east, and by water, the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean) to the northwest, and the Barents Sea (Arctic Ocean) to the north and northeast. Lebesby Church
Lebesby Church ( no, Lebesby kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lebesby Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Lebesby. It is one of the churches for the Lebesby parish which is part of the Hammerfest prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The brown, wooden church was built in a rectangular style in 1962, eighteen years after the old church (built in 1881) was burned down during the German withdrawal from Finnmark during World War II. This church was designed by the architect Odd Borgrud Pedersen. The church seats about 170 people and it was consecrated in 1962. History The first church built in Lebesby was in 1834. In 1881, the old church was torn down and replaced with a new church on the same site. In 1944, the church was burned down by the retreating German army at the end of World War II. Kjøllefjord
Kjøllefjord is the administrative centre of Lebesby Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on the northwestern part of the Nordkinn Peninsula, on the shore of a small fjord which empties into the larger Laksefjorden. The village has a population (2017) of 945, which gives the village a population density of and makes it the largest village in the municipality and one of the largest fishing villages in Finnmark county. The Hurtigruten coastal express boat has regular stops at Kjøllefjord. Kjøllefjord Church is located in the village. One of the largest fish processing and fishing companies in Kjøllefjord is a branch of Aker Seafoods. Another large company is Laksefjord Seafood AS. Laksefjorden
Laksefjorden ( en, Lakse Fjord; sme, Lágesvuotna) is a fjord located entirely in Lebesby Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. At long, it is the third-longest fjord in Finnmark county after the Porsangerfjorden and Varangerfjorden. The fjord is situated in a sparsely populated area, with only few and small settlements along the fjord, including Lebesby, Kunes, Ifjord, and Veidnes. The fjord is surrounded by the Sværholt Peninsula to the west and the Nordkinn Peninsula to the east, and it empties to the north into the Barents Sea.
