Leatherface
Leatherface is a fictional character in ''The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'' film series created by Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper. He first appears in ''The Texas Chain Saw Massacre'' as a disfigured, cannibalistic and mentally unstable mass murderer who, alongside his family, kidnaps, kills, and cooks unsuspecting travelers who venture near their ranch located in Kingsland, Texas. The character's name comes from his masks of human skin. Leatherface's signature weapon is the chainsaw, though he has also used other tools, such as cleavers and hammers, to kill his victims. The character was largely inspired by real-life murderer Ed Gein, who also wore masks made of human skin. The character is the only one to have appeared in all installments of ''The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'' franchise, though rarely as the main antagonist, due to mostly acting under his family's orders. ''Leather Face'', also known as ''Farzand-e-Watan'', is a 1939 Indian Hindi-language action film produced and directed by Vijay Bhatt for his production company Prakash Pictures. Bhatt cast the young Mahjabeen, then six years, who went on to become the famous actress, Meena Kumari. The story writers were Batuk Bhatt and Sampatlal Srivastava. The music direction was by Lallubhai Nayak and Shankar Rao Vyas with the lyrics written by Pandit Anuj. It starred P. Jairaj, Mehtab, Jal Writer, Shirin, M. The popularity of ''The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'' film-series and of its main character, Leatherface, led to the publication of several comic books based on the franchise. In 1991, Northstar Comics released a miniseries titled ''Leatherface'' — a loose adaptation of '' Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III'' — that ran for four issues. In 1995, Topps Comics released ''Jason Vs. Leatherface'', a three-issue miniseries that had Jason Voorhees of '' Friday the 13th'' fame moving in with Leatherface and his cannibalistic family. Mort Castle (born 1946) is an American horror author and writing teacher, with more than 500 short stories and 17 books to his credit, including ''Cursed Be the Child'' (Leisure Books, 1994) and ''The Strangers''. Castle's first novel was published in 1967. Since then he has had pieces published in all sorts of places ranging from traditional literary magazines to more off-the-wall or risqué markets. He has been nominated eleven times for the Bram Stoker Award for Short Fiction and was winner three times. A dedicated writing teacher, Castle has been a working musician, a standup comic, a stage hypnotist, a high school English teacher (for 11 years), and a magazine and comic book editor. Leatherface were a British punk rock band from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, fronted by Frankie Stubbs.
