Leah Zelikhman
Leah Ilyinichna Zelikhman (russian: Лия Ильинична Зелихман; 1910–1971) was a Soviet pianist and pedagogue. After studying with Leonid Nikolayev, she taught at the Central Special Music School of the Leningrad Conservatory for many years. Leonid Nikolayev (pianist)
Leonid Vladimirovich Nikolayev (russian: Леони́д Влади́мирович Никола́ев, August 13, 1878October 11, 1942) was a Russian/Soviet pianist, composer and pedagogue. Biography Nikolayev was born in Kiev in 1878. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Sergei Taneyev and Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov. For many years Nikolayev was a professor of piano at the Leningrad Conservatoire, and was for a short and unsuccessful period director of the institution. The N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory (russian: Санкт-Петербургская государственная консерватория имени Н. А. Римского-Корсакова) (formerly known as the Petrograd Conservatory and Leningrad Conservatory) is a school of music in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In 2004, the conservatory had around 275 faculty members and 1,400 students. History The conservatory was founded in 1862 by the Russian Music Society and Anton Rubinstein, a Russian pianist and composer. On his resignation in 1867, he was succeeded by Nikolai Zaremba. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov was appointed as a professor in 1871, and the conservatory has borne his name since 1944. Valery Sigalevitch
Valery Sigalevitch (Russian: Валерий Львович Сигалевич, ''Valerij Lvovič Sigalevič''; born 1950) is a Russian classical concert pianist. Biography Sigalevitch was born in Simferopol, Crimea. His father Lev Sigalevitch was a painter and his mother a concert pianist and professor. He began playing the piano at the age of six and, showing prodigious talent, was accepted at the special music class of the Leningrad Conservatory at age seven to study with Leah Zelikhman. He continued his studies at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Vera Gornostayeva. He finished his studies winning the first prize. In 1977 he left the Soviet Union and emigrated to Israel. For the next two years he studied with Nikita Magaloff in Geneva and with Arie Vardi in Tel Aviv. His repertoire includes works by J.S. Pavel Gililov
Pavel Lvovich Gililov (russian: Павел Львович Гилилов; born 23 June 1950) is a Russian classical pianist who has held German citizenship since 2003. Life Born in Donezk, Gililov's musical talent was discovered by the Russian composer Dmitry Kabalevsky. He completed his studies both in piano performance and Lied piano at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with distinction. While still a student, he won the 1972 Moscow National Piano Competition and was eventually the 4th prize winner of the 1975 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. He was also a laureate of the International Viotti Piano Competition in Vercelli in 1978. Gililov emigrated in 1978 from the former Soviet Union first to Austria and finally to Germany. He performs both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, is a member of the Berlin Philharmonic Piano Quartet and works with numerous well-known soloists such as Boris Pergamenschikow, Mischa Maisky and Viktor Tretiakov.
